We are not happy with ths maintance program, you pay each year for, more bell' s and whistles, and more bugs. X4 is the buggest release we have seen so far, what is next in x 5? more bugs to add to the list, and more money spent by the customer. Most of the master cam customers, just want a stable software package. The software works very nice, when it works. At this point, CNC software needs take hard look at there future, along with other software companies, make you customers happy with a stable software package.

We get the NCI repair also, on 5 axis operations also. Will cnc software ever get it together? All we want is a stable version software, the heck with all the bells and whistles. Build a product that works, and make your customers happy.

Steve, what make and model of machine are you using. I would presume, you running in inverse time correct?

How bad is the mismatch? Mismatch is caused by the set up of the machine alot of the times. Makes sure, you offset are dead on with the center line.

I have the same thing going on also with X4mu, black screen, on verify, xp 32 box.

Bump it up to 16000 on A and B, it will get better.

I had the HFO tech tweak the drives on my vf3,and the differance was night and day for sure on the 5 axis performance, I get perfect finish on the ports. Also a big plus on big amounts of code also, in inverse time.

Do you have high speed machinning turned on? I cut ports on our vf3, and the high speed machinng helps out alot. we use x3 and the flow line tool path.

I just made the switch over to windows 7 64 bit a month ago on my dual core laptop. I have xp on all my boxes, except for the windows 7 on the laptop. Windows 7 so far, is just out right awesome. I am running mastercam x3, on windows 7 64 bit, and it's much faster than the xp os for sure. I am going to say by to xp on all of my boxes. Thumbs up on windows 7

Prob2spl chook has a bug in it, I reported the bug over a year ago to mastercam, and they never fixed it. No surprised it's not working. CNC software needs to get ther act together,and fix the bugs, and forget about all the new eye candy.

I have a new vf3, we purchased new in 08. We have had a few problems with it, I was on the phone with haas HFO when we had a problem, and they fixed the problem, no questions asked. We had a spindle go bad in 40 hours, they replaced it. The haas is a very nice machine. As far as your Z problem, Tell them to fix it, if they can't fix, bring you a new machine, no questions asked. They are feeding you a bunch of crap telling you, you need scales. My machine holds a tighter tolerance than Haas specs it at.You paid alot of money for the machine,and make them fix it, don't be the nice guy on this issue.

Engraving, and 5 axis edgeblend we will use alot, the maintenance was worth it this year. We have installed x3, and so far, all is good. Good job CNC software.

Sounds like a lot of work. We do alot of cylinder head porting also. We digitize on the machine, and import the data to MC. We use the 2d surface blending tool alot, and can get the surfaces how we want them, and then project some new splines , and loft the surface up as 1 surface. Everytime we project the splines, the surfaces get cleaner and cleaner. I receivied trainng from a expert in cnc porting with mastercam. There are alot of ways to get a result, it's just what works best for you and your application

We use a microscribe arm, that is ported directly into master cam. Microscribe will import point cloud data into master cam, then we can do what ever we want with the data in mastercam. You might want to talk with faro, and see what they have to offer.
