VERIFY STL

Hi Guys,

I save a STL in Verify and bring it back in on a level to print out setup sheets, but it isn't shaded. So I load the file in solidworks through a STL import plug-in that converts it to a solid part. Then I save that as a parasolid and read it back in mastercam. The problem is that the file gets to big. Is there a beter way around this? Verify shows a shaded stl when you verify and if you use highfeed and select STL filename, Draw STL it is also shaded. When I use vericut it also shades the STL file.

I always just do a screen capture in the verify.

Then I will print out the "verified part" which

is shaded,and send this along with the set up

sheet.

I aquired a small program called printscreen 2000.

It works very well for doing this type of stuff.

Hi,

An other way on the Mastercam manu you can select the Screen, configuration,Toolbar/keys scroll down to the File Hard-

Copy, and assign it to the (Alt/) ect.. so that you can print the image off from Verify.

To "print screen" in Windows simply press the "print screen" button on your keyboard and open your favorite graphics editor, (paint, photo editor, etc), and "paste".

I used the Print Screen program a few years ago and it caused problems for other graphics applications. It is probably better now, but why spend the money for something that is already there?

To shade an existing STL file in Mastercam, do the following.

 

File, Converters, STL, Xform File and select the file.

Set Max #Tris to 0

Press alt-S to shade.

I never knew that you could do this.

Now if I could learn just 1 trick a day.......
