solidworks multibodies convert????

try to open up a new function in solidworks 2003 that allows multi bodies i belive this is more that one solid model in the sldprt file but when i convert into mcam v9.1 with the sw2003 .dll chook only one part comes up it is missing the other part any ideas?????

Save the file in Solidworks as a Parasolid version 13.0 or a SAT vesion 7.0 and then call it into mastercam.

MACHINEMASTERG I know on prior versions of opening SLDPART files that if they have more then one solid it would prompt you to pick then go back and get the other.

 

I have not seen any 2003 files yet.

I would like someone to share one so I can try bring one in.

jay in the past i dont think you could have more than one solid in a sldprt file unless it was configurations this multibodies is a new feature in solidworks in the past our designers would have to put like a .01 skin on the bottom to make 2 parts into one pc and any other file save is not an option we have to pull the model off our enginering server as the sldprt file they dont want to have to save all there files twice once for themselfs as sldprt and then a seperate file for the shop ...x-t or sat ??? i do have the new sw2003 .dll chook and this works fine for any other solid work 2003 file but this multi bodies feature only comes up with one part when there is more than one and nothing prompts me for more ??? maybe something here to be added to v9.1????? any one else tring to do this??? thanks for all inputs....

ive discovered it does work with parasolid x-t but this does not help me since i need to convert sldprt files!!! anytime soon on the work around on this one pdg ?????

i belive it on cadcams ftp site ??? i could not access the site so a good guy at cnc software burned it for me and sent it snail mail thanks again greg mckay it works great except for the multibodies thing

we have discovered that disjointed bodies will not read in to mastercam with the new "C-hook"

from Mastercam. We have alerted QC dept. at CNC

to look into this. the work around is to export as a X_T file instead of a native Solidworks file

thanks phil thats what we figured out here i guess you know we had called prism and talked to matt about this very thing last night ??? cant wait for version 9.1
