point cloud to surface creation

our CMM software (Quadra-Check 5000 )won't create a surface file for reverse engineering that can be imported to Mastercam,it can create a point cloud of points across the surface in a 3d iges file. What software, c-hook or methoud does anyone use to create a surface from the all the points so you can have a surface in Mastercam to work with ?

I use Raindrop GeoMagic,its pricy but if your gonna use it all the time well worth it,if not just pay to have surfaces made on your data

I did a surface from 120000 points in a 120mm x 60mm area. The points were in a grid with only the Z changing. Only used Mastercam. It was not difficult and did not take a lot of time.

How I did it:

1) I placed the rows of points on seperate levels. Chose the rows to have the largest number of points so there were less rows.

 

2) Then I used "create spline automatic. Having only the row visible that I was creating the spline on.

 

3) Then I used "create surface loft".

 

Worked great.

I,m also checking with rep on a couple of Mastercam add on Rev-Quick ? and Revsurf

anyone have experiance with these ?

In regards to point cloud to surfaces. The Geomagic that dOgFarts was referring to is awesome. Do a search for RevQuick. That will do the same for less $$$.

I have used the Revquick and revquick by the way is GEOMAGIC.

 

Works well and gives you allot of control over point control data for the surface creation.

 

I would really consider this software.
