Edit tool holder, no change in backplt or verify

(never change these before)....but

I am cutting a deep (funky contoured) 3d cavity and want to use the shortest

cutter stickout as possible.

When I change the Holder Diameter or hieght, the holder in back plot or verify does

not get bigger or smaller when I change those sizes to match the holder that I will

be using in the machine.

I wonder why you have the option to change those values but it does not change any thing.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

cheers

Rick

:bump:

Do you have to 'save to library' for the changes to take effect?

The verify and backplot do not use thoses fake numbers. instead it used the holder.mcx file located in your tool lib. the only way to use a defined tool holder is to draw it as a custom tool or select from the holder option if the toolpath allows it.

while we are on the subject, i set up our shared x5 folder on the network and now when i back plot i dont get the a holder, just a round blob that kind of looks like a holder. the weird part is verify shows the default holder fine.

if i select a custom holder it shows fine in back plot and verify.

This applies to all toolpaths using the tree style parameters page.

The third item down is "Holders"

Click on that and then "Open library"

There are 13 different libraies of toolholder you can choose from

and they show up in true scale in both backplot and verify

if you turn "Show Holders" on..

You can also build your own or modify and save existing holders.

The downside is they are tied to the Operation, not the Tool library.

This is a big downside IMO, but they work very well when you

really need to check holder clearances.

These holders also work with the collision detection features

in 3D high speed and advanced 5X toolpaths

X5 QUESTION. It seems to be working well, assigning a tool holder on tool paths with the tree style. How do you assign a tool holder

to all the other ones???? How do you change the tool holder in the tp's without the tree style parameter page? Does Mastercam have

any plans to make this work or are we stuck with the default?

thanks if you can help!
