Calculation Freeze

Hi To All,

Does anyone out there know how to stop MasterCams calculation process once it has started. What I mean is sometimes I set up an operation that seems to require more time than I had planned and MC gets into what I call a "Calculation Freeze". I'm not sure if the computer is frozen or thinking. I would like to stop the process and change some of the paremeters of that operation but the only way I can is by closing MC and then reopening it. Is there a simpler way? I have V9.1.

Try esc key to get out of the calcs

Esc key gives me a white screen and the hourglass

Ctrl-Alt-Delete gives me info that MC is not responding and I have 100% CPU for the non-responding MasterCam

1 Gig RAM

nVidia,Quadro2 Pro Graphics Card

Windows XP Pro

Mike, In WinExPee Pro, do the CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring up the Task Manager, click on the Processes tab. Look for Mill9.exe. To the right you should see a column for Mem Usage. Watch that. If it changes MC is not frozen, it should return sooner or later. Even if it says Not Responding. (If you don't see the Mem Usage tab, click View, then Select Columns)

Thanks. Let's say MC is not frozen and is on it's merry way to a 2-3 hr. calculation I want to stop. Is there anyway to interupt the process without using the 'End Task' method and restarting MC?

As suggested, try esc, but that rarely works for me.

 

If you know the process is going to take a while, I would save the file just before regen, so if you DO need to stop it by killing it, you won't be that messed up.

Thanks again Rekd. That's what I do. I'm just trying to see if there was another method.

I have run into the problem before and if I hit the Esc key about 3 time and give the puter a minute to work it stop the cal for me.
