i just did a copper electrode with a sharp corner radius joined together in 3d contour.i tried a parallel surface toolpath but i couldn't apply a negative stock for spark gap.i wonder anybody tried other methods.i tried reducing cutter diameter to compensate for spark gap and lower z offsets to compensate for spark gaps but found mismatch with previously cut profile using ball nose cutter which couldn't cut a sharp 3d profile.i wonder could anybody help me out?thanks

good day

if your form your cutting is a 3-d wireframe you could try to offset your geometry the proper amount and then use a 2-d or 3-d sweep to obtain what you are looking for . other than that if you absolutly need it sharp you may need to split it into two trodes. i personally stay away from lieing about cutter size for the exact reason you discovered. as corey stated do a search the topic has been covered quite a bit.

hth trevor

--for corey, hows it going your way? another one bites the dust here. biggrin.gif ill give you a call.
