toolpath projection

Years ago I did a project where I prjfected a toolpath ( name ) onto a curved surface. If I remember right the NC file was saved and then projected onto a surface. I have tried many different things and can't get it to work. Any help is appreciated.

Hello All - thank you for the replies. They are going to help my students move forward. Here is a YouTube video of one of my student's project - square gear sign -

Students used Inventor to ensure the gears would work ( lots of trials ) and then used Mastercam to cut the gears and base out on a CNC router.
