Can you save your toolpath as geometry?

Many times a regular surfacing toolpath

will not give you the results you want.

You can...

1. Create a 2d pocket toolpath that meets

your requirements

2. Backplot, saving the geometry

3. Trim or modify the geometry if needed

4. Project the geometry onto a surface as

a 3d toolpath.

Now you have a 3d toolpath that does exactly

what you want.

This is one of the most common uses.

I'm sure the folks on this forum have a thousand other good reasons to save toolpaths as geometry

I never done backplot, saving the geometry before, so after I save and modify geometry

the next step is toolpath, surface, and project

on Curve, is that right?

It works really great for creating a specific patterned finish in the product you are machining! I have also used it when cutting some undercut features on the 4th axis - kept me from eating off other features.

Tony, I almost fell off my chair when I saw your cycle in the bed........ ROFL

You need to feed it a little high-octane pick-me-up! biggrin.gif

I have to admit I found the photo out

in cyberspace a while back biggrin.gif

All this motorcycle Talk brought it out!

I resized it as small as I could.

(And still make out what was going on)

If you want the original pic E mail me.
