MD CD problems

Hi all,

I am having a problem with my Machine def and control def not staying with the file. Set up the right MD, CD, PST combo, make the file, save it, all is good. Then I open a different file, do some work, save it, all is good. Then I reopen the 1st file and the MD, CD, & pst are back to the defaults... not the ones I saved the file with.

Also changes I made & saved to the CD (thru the MD) are not sticking when i reopen the file (arc type, sequence #'s...) are they getting reset by the post when I reopen the file?

Is this just the way it is, or am I missing something.

Thanks

Hi Keith,

Did you set the machine type to design, and then create a new mastercam fiel before going into the machine def manager and finding the machine you want to change? I think this may have an impact on whether the machine definition is changed locally or globally.

HTH

Brendan

The Edit button inside the Operations Manger only edits the internal copy of the Machine and Control Def.

The edits apply to that MCX file only.

If you want to edit your permanent Machine/Control Def do it by clicking

Setting/Machine Def from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Those edits will stick and apply to all future uses on the machine def

Thanks guys,

I switched the MD through the operations manager, Then I made the changes to the CD by going through Settings/MD, then hitting the CD icon at the top of the MD window. ( I saved it by hitting the 3.5"floppy disk icon at the top of the CD and the same icon at the top of the MD.) Then I saved the file.

Nothing would stick for me all day yesterday, I would reopen the file and the new MD/CD/PST were gone, all back to default. I would reselect the MD, CD, & PST. and the changes to the CD were gone....PITA...

Brendan, In the past I have made changes to the active MD/CD and they were still there when I would reopen the file an hour later. (add an aggregate, change an axis of rotation for a rotary, etc..)

I just opened the file today and the changes are there, makes me feel like I'm losing my mind.... I am usually the first in line to blame it on the nut behind the wheel... Maybe just the restart of the computer helped...maybe I am just losing my mind :D
