Surface finish in surfacing toolpaths

Does anyone have a surface finish chart

showing ball endmill radius, feed rate, stepover and the (theoretical) finish produced???

I usualy calculate the hight of the scallop based on the step over and the ball size. I'd be interested on seeing a chart if anyone has one aswell.

What you are asking is not a easy way to tell the finish buy the scalop but by the feed and scalop hight what would the finsh call out be like say 125 finsh?

 

I have not seen one, if someone has one I would like to have it along with you.

I just uploaded an excell file called "surface finish calculator" to the "unspecified_uploads" directory on the ftp site. All you have to enter is the radius of the tool in column B next to the surface finish you need in column A.

A2 =250 finish

A3 =125 finish

A4 =63 finish

etc.

Note! this is only valid on a flat surface for milling or for turning on a lathe (result should be feed per rev)
