Hey guys... our CNC programmer quit, I kinda of got thrown into this, I am going to get some training but I need help right now if possible. I am trying to make a vacuum fixture from an exisiting program. I just need to add a .2188 (7/32) flat bottom end mill and create some tool path. Can someone start me in the right direction? I was referred to this forum from a friend on here.

here are my specs

mastercam x5

machine: 5 axis viper

but what i need to do is all three axis and from what I read this shouldn't take as long as it is with me. (lol)

I appreciate any help and will send any information as requested....

thanks!

Welcome to the forum!!!

Got your geo drawn?

Right click in the ops manager, mill toolpaths, contour, pick your geo, pick your tool, hit post, close the door, 100-100-GO!!!!

What have you tried? Where are you getting stuck?

What exactly do you need to do?

i.e.

contour outside of part.... face part.... make a pocket... do some holes....

The more info you give us the better help you will get.

all I need to do is take a .2188 endmill and make a slot around the fixture, then take a smaller ballnose and put some .03 deep grooves in it (for the vacuum)

i attached what the previous programmer had programmed for your viewing pleasure it's fix pos 1

If you have your geometry drawn, do exactly what Keith said... or another way... click "toolpaths" at the top of the screen and select "contour" then a chaining window appears... click on the geometry you want to machine... then fill in all of the information as completely as you can...

..then, post back when you have further questions... that should get you going.

thanks guys... after I drew the tool path and created it... it did excatly what it was supposed to do!

I finished the vacuum fixture, now (remember I'm a CMM programmer)they want me to start on different parts. So now I can make the part and check it... lol (conflict of interest there) anyways once again, thanks alot for the timely response and help!
