Engraving Fonts in MC for SW

Hi,

I am trying to do a simple engraving task. Numbers 1-9.

I am using MaterCam for SolidWorks and the fonts available make the text an extruded pocket.

I just want a single line profile to use as the tool path.

Is there a way to do this?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cheers

Wayne.

Hey Greg,

You're right, it's amazing but there's almost no center line fonts to be found anywhere. At least on the questionable web sites I frequent! For this reason we are currently working on incorporating the standard Mastercam create letters functionality into MCfSW X7. In the mean time shoot me an email at [email protected] and I can send you one or two I did find in the internet that you may be able to work with.

Rather than extruding a pocket in SW, use the 'split line' command in SW. This will just put the edges of the letter on the surface you want to engrave, and then you can use that to drive your toolpath.

I have done this already or you can even use the Letter/Number outline as a contour.

As Ryan said, we need a centreline contour as the tool path.

Thanks for your suggestions to this point.

Regards

Wayne.
