Parasolid problems

Has anyone had this problem?

If we email an x_t file it cannot be opened.

Are you saving it to the drive before you open or trying to open straight out of the email?

Saving to computer first. Works both ways, we send x_t and reciever can not open. We recieve x_t and we can not open.

Are you trying to open in an older version of Mastercam or the same version?

 

I open parasolids all day, so something strange going on here.

 

I assume this is a constant issue and that rebooting didn't clear it?

 

Can you send one along to see if it's corrupting it some how?

perhaps your antivirus softwate is kill X_T files???

 

try changing the file extension to TXT .. email it, then change it back to X_T

We can pass them through the network and have no problems. Only when we send them through email do we have a problem. Within the company it is not a problem we just save on the network and send the location through email. But outside we had to go to step files. Also this is happening with both MCX x_t files and Solidworks x_t files.

It sounds like you company's email A/V protocols are causing the problem

 

PST file extensions are blocked by most A/V software

 

Try the changingthe file extension of an X_T file to TXT and send it to someone ..

 

or

try using the X_B parasolid file extension ..

Neither worked Gcode.

I have our designer talking to our service provider to see if they changed thier av settings in the last 5 months.

a X_T file is a text file ... you can open it and read it in a text editor

 

even if you rename it *.TXT send it and change it back to *.X_T you can't open it ???

Try sending it out and recieving it in from a different mail account.. (i.e. gmail, yahoo.....) if it works you know it's something to do with your company email.

dumb question...

are you sure the sender and reciever are capable of opening the same versions of parasolids..

for example

X6 can save a v23.1 parasolid... to SW 2012 ( or X5) that is a future version and it won't open

 

you can change the Mastercam export version level on the Converters page of system config

I think G may have hit it. Save out as a 20 or 21 and see if they can open.

Not the problem we can get the files off the network and they are fine only when we send them as email attachments do we have a problem.

Also if files are sent zipped thay are ok.

You have to zip ( or rename posts too.

open a before and after X_T in Cimco edit and do a file compare

something is getting changed

 

tell the IT dept to add X_T to the exclusion (white) list

I would just open the emailed _xt file in a text editor like wordpad and take a look at it. Does it look like a valid _XT file at the begiining and end of the file?
