Mori seiki NL2500SY-1250, useing subspindle as tailstock

Recommended Posts

Hello,

OFAB Kiruna is a new Swedish company at eMastercam. We bought a used Mori NL2500SY-1250 in april this year.

I cant find an option that sets the subspindle as tailstock. So i really want to know before i try anything,

Can someone explain? How much pressure can you put on the piece etc, is there a sensor for this?

Mapps II software. Panel is MSX-850, machine is installed 2005 november in norway. Imported this year to our company in Sweden.

Is it nescessary to update the software to Mapps III? We have alot of problem with posting from mapps, probably

are parameter settings. We also have an alarm msg that pops there and then, blowing out all servos.

When using G92 machine sometimes stop exactly at the beginning of the cycle blowing all servos and you have

to restart the machine. Weird is that it can run G92 for a week at different positions on the z-axis without any

problem. And suddenly without warning it can blow the servos a whole day then it can run again for several days.

This happens for both inner and outer G92 threads.

Servo alarm codes,

No: S01 SERVO ALARM:PR 0035 Z

No: EMG EMERGENCY SRV

No: T10 FIN WAIT 0080

And often when we had a blowout of the servos when machine is restarted, we get the following alarm and have to restart

a few times again.

SPINDLE SPEED ABNORMAL

EX0490 M7492

Not even the engineers of Mori Seiki in Sweden can solve this(not yet at least). they have been here 3 times for a week

and costs $$$ mola.

Any help would be preiciated.

Have a nice day!

Are you using a floating center or a dead center and allowing the sub to be driven by the main? On our machines We made a sleeve to put on spring loaded centers in bore the chuck jaws to match that. We had many different size bodies for the different size work we did. We would do the 1st operation and face off material and center drill. Then do a sub spindle grab pull out the material. Then grab in Main spindle release sub spindle place center in there, bring up to position and never load the sub unless with was syncing. Free spinning the sub spindle while the main drove for me has been nothing but headaches on other machines. Now run your operation then we would take out the center. Clamp the part between both spindle sync the spindles and then part off do extra work on the back side of the part. Try to use the sub as a tail stock means you have to put so much pressure that any flex, growth or shrinkage is hard ot account far if you are doing a lot of work. By having the spring loaded center it give you flexibility and allows you machine to not have to work so hard.

Tailstock with the Sub spindle is an option. If you have the option you will see the tailstock settings under settings (tailstock)

You can set rapid approach, contact point and pressure, plus position tolerance. If you don't have the tailstock option with your SY Mori you can not use the Sub as a tailstock.
