X6 not running right on new 64 bit system

Added new seat for new machine. Purchased new dell computor with windows 7, 64 bit, quadro fx1800. Mastercam will run but the bigger the model I load the slower it runs. So slow it seems to lock up. Any help would be great.

Did you dump the Dell video card driver and install the version for yur card from NVIDIA.com?

 

Also, a fresh install with "no" config copied from another system?

Updated video drivers and did a fresh restall and all appears well.

You can expect some lag when dealing with bigger files especially bigger size parts.

 

When is Mastercam slowing down?

I am assuming you are asking "Iwells" how large his files are, but for example, I just finished milling the surfaces, both sides, of an impeller 107" in diameter and the file was 230,315K so that's what, 230 MB?

 

When I made the stock model it took about 25 minutes to crunch the numbers, and as I experimented to get the toolpath I wanted, some of the paths would crunch numbers for up to an hour. Multi-threading is pretty sweet these days, 'cause I could just let it process and work on something else.

 

The reason I am suggesting to "Iwells" that some lag is to be expected on bigger files, is because, if he is not used to working with these huge files, he might be thinking the calculation time is a problem with his new computer... when it is really perfectly normal.

 

BTW, Verify was a nightmare... I mostly used turbo.
