Silhouette boundary

How to create 2D boundary at the current Z depth in the current Cplane for the pocket. Thanks for your help.

There are two c-hooks in the "run user application" folder

- fourth icon from the top in the settings drop down

- alt c

 

the c-hooks are "CreateBoundry" & "SilhouetteBoundry"

 

in the Mastercam help guide look for "C-Hooks supplied with Mastercam" for a list of c-hooks and what they do

I don't know why it only create the outside boundry.

draw a line, use x-form project to a surface in the toolplane perpendicular to the required profile

My license doen't have solid all i have is surfaces. Is that a problem.

No, it just means you work with the geom differently,..

 

You could set your convertor to open the solid information as trimmed surfaces, then you can move the model where you want it relative to Mcam's origin,...

 

Or,.. you could open the part as a solid, leave it where it is, create a custom WSC (world coordinate system) relative to the part then use custom toolplanes to work around the part

If you want create geom from a surface (in this case the bottom of a pocket) use create curves all edges, if that gives you 3D geom, use x-form project to a plane and set your Z depth.

I cannot open your file right now but try create boundary Chook, dont select the whole part but just the surfaces surrounding your pocket, now you will get 2d boundary for both sides of those surfaces.

I used create curve all edges, deleted what I didn't want, then projected the curves to your custom toolplane in Z, then geom ends up being a spline that can be handled with the filter settings in the toolpath, also I would not use gray for the color of the surfaces, gray is the default color for the back, you can't tell if you're looking at the correct normal
