Advanced 5X Feed Zone Control

There is a feature on the Utilities page of the advanced 5X toolpaths called "Feed Zone Control"

I have no idea how long it;s been there, but I just used it on a 4X rotary job and it works very well.

Anybody else using it??... if not, check it out

I'm running X6 MU3 but have no idea when it was introduced.

the adnvanced 5X stuff doesn't always make it into the What's New file

It works so well I'm going to start using it for 3X contours.

You can do a 3X swarf toolpath and define the corner fillet's as "feed control zones"

It will slow down and speed back up going in and out of the corners...

Some day, we'll be able to do this with a regular contour toolpath < sigh >

i just upgraded to mu3 after you posted yesterday, so i cant say when in x6.

 

so this 3ax swarf method is better than playing with the high feed function/ 2dcontour?

 

i haven't compared the two head to head.

I'm going to try them as a substitute for simple 2D contour finish toolpaths

They don't support wear comp, but being able to slow down and speed up in corners

is worth the hassle when you're doing tight corners with long tools..

I can always insert a G41 D** by hand.
