Advanced Rendering

I'm working on a drawing for a customer of an invention he would like to prototype. I'd like to create some exploded views of the assembly, but would like to render all the parts transparent like clear plastic.

 

Dimmed Wireframe is not what I want.

 

From what I've seen, MasterCAM does not have any advanced rendering techniques or materials that would make this possible.

 

 

Any suggestions? (buying solidworks is not an option)

 

I remember there being some free rendering software out there like POV-RAY, but haven't worked with it in forever.

Make a solid, set it to translucent? Does that work for you?

if you just want transparency like Jeff said there's a transparency setting under "shade settings"

 

otherwise, a great free renderer is Blender. not easy to learn, but very powerful

Protip: Right click in your icon area and choose "customize." From the pull-down list in the middle, choose "shade," then look near the end of the displayed icons. There will be one called "toggle translucency," click and drag that up to your icon bar, then hit the green ok button. Now you can quickly and easily toggle it without going into a menu...

Aaron, I find that user LOVE tips and tricks that are usually not shown in books and so on.

I think any tips like you are talking about would be a great Idea.

I've always wanted this. I just thought Master cam didnt have it. Can I have something say on level 5 be translucent and something on level 6 be solid?

SpecProgrammer - Unfortunately, no. You can't have individual levels have graphic attributes, they're across the board (wireframe/shaded/translucent).
