MC Crashing Constantly While Accessing Network Locations

Recently MC has been crashing extremely frequently while (seemingly) accessing anything on our Network attached storage drive. This includes part files, tool/holder libs, MD CD posts. This is a recent development a we have operating with these files in this location for quite some time without any problems. Any ideas on what could be causing this? TIA

Hi Mike,

 

It has to be a network/hardware problem. Nothing in Mastercam would cause it to just start acting up like that. Did your IT department change anything?

If it is a desktop system, you might try replacing the network card.

Plot thickens. Copied all files to the local MC shared locations and still getting same constant crashing. Ran the windows sfc/scannow but it came back that it did not find any integrity violations.

Did IT reset any of your network profile privilages? Make sure you have "Full Control" over all the folders (My mcamx_, Shared mcamx_).

 

The only time I've seen Mastercam crash on basic file I/O like you are describing. Sometimes I've seen IT give "Read/Write" permission, but not give "Full control", and that can cause issues.

Make sure every path is a UNC path

 

 

Never ever use mapped drives in any network scenario unless making a shortcut for the desktop user

Right-Click on a folder, and choose "Properties". Select the "Security" tab, and you can see the 'Group or user names'. Select your profile, and you should see the permissions check marks below for everything.

 

Did you install Mastercam with 'Administrator' privileges? Are you an Administrator on your local machine?

Update. Windows repair install seemed to do the trick whatever it was. 3 days and going strong.
