I have 2 solid models one is a 2 flute,1 is a 3 flute 50mm long,25mm dia. they look like end mills smile.gif

I think they have an involute curve to them. I played around with surface/multiaxis 4 axis output. is this a good way to do this? as of now I can not post them to the ftp site because of non discothing agreement. John sent me the file discussed earlier in this thread but I think this is diferent

When I make things like this, I usually use Flowline. I'll turn on the rotary settings, turn off gouge checking and let it rip. I've done a number of things this way.

James,

will flowline work with a flat minor dia? the 3 flute has a rad in minor dia but the 2 flute has a twisted ribbon look to it on the bottom. I will get some time maybe next week to work on this. they have not finalized the models yet. we got preliminary's to look at for quote

thanks tho, I'm taking notes on things to try

James have you found when doing this that surfaces worked better or solids in not making the z want to travel up and down a little. If you back and look up in the thread I talked about Flow5ax and then the rooldie got into this diccusion and I looked at it and real cool toolpath so I just another way in which to apporach it.

Thnaks in advance for any response.

Millman,

The rolldie looks like a really good solution, though a bit more involved. I'm going to try it today and see how it works out.

Again, to everyone thats contributed to this query, I'd like to say thanks. With a forum like this, who would want any other CAM program? smile.gif

Cheers,

Mick
