5 Axis Threadmill Path

how bout a five axis threadmilling cycle so's you could mill NPT threads with a straight threadmill?

That would be pretty cool but I don't know if it would work quite right. The thread profile would be perpendicular to the angled wall where on a pipe thread mill it is perp to the axis of the hole. Probably wouldn't get very good thread engagement. 5 axis thread mill path overdue IMO.

You can't do that correctly if you wanted to.

Your thread profile would never be correct..

In theory you might be able to do it with a single point tool but why would you want to?

That's why they make tapered thread hobs for NPT.

Does that mean we can expect to see one in MU2 or X8?

Sorry, but I wouldn't look for it in either of those, MU1 is going to be enhancements & fixes that don't change the interface at all (so it doesn't affect our OEMs, Partners & translators) and the window is pretty much closed for X8 new features as we prepare to address beta & (eventually) open beta feedback. Hopefully not too long after that, though! We'll see how it slots in.
