changing the color of a solid

When importing a .step file it seems like I can't change its color.

 

When I import in X7 it's blue and X6 it's bright green.

 

I'm boring and want grey.

 

Am I doing something wrong?

You can go into the configuration and look at the convertors and see if there is a setting for Use System Color for imported Solids. Make sure you are setup like you want when importing and they will come in that way.

 

Other than that there is the change them after they come in with pre selection and right click on colors or post selection and then answer the question by picking what it tells you to change the color to. Now if it has Solid face colors and you want to change that that is a different process. That has to be done one by one through the solids options.

Go to the Solids menu, down to Face / feature colors, then choose "clear all solid face and feature colors". This will allow you to change the colors to what you like.
