Need help with undercut toolpath

Thanks to you guys I was able to successfully run a Blend toolpath from this Thread

 

Now I need to surface a .03 radius on the underside (green area) with a .1875 lollipop tool. I've read elsewhere here that undercut surfacing works with flowline, or would Blend work here as well? The file is oversize so I cant upload it. The original will work I just made a .03 fillet on the underside edges in green.

you cannot use Blend to do the undercut as it is not supprited. Start with flow and you can also do Surface Contour but flow is what I would use.

What Jay said. Flow and finish contour. Flow would me my first choice. Picking all surfaces sometimes might give you weird results. Recreating the surfaces or picking one at a time would than be an option.

If you want to get fancy: Flip your WCS upside down - use whatever toolpath gives you the nicest, smoothest motion with a .1875 ball mill (same thing you did yesterday?) - then backplot and save the toolpath as geometry. Go back to your normal WCS, 3D contour your backplotted/saved geometry, and viola. (You'll have to pay attention to the shank of the lollipop though).

I've had some luck in the past offsetting the surfaces by the diameter of the lollipop cutter and driving that using flowline.

You'll need to pay attention to your approach move so as not to violate the part.

No matter what I try, I can't get the lollipop tool to go deep enough to use the top side of the tool.

Try the Advanced 5 ax toolpath "Morph between two curves"

Use 3 axis Output.. Looks pretty good. Use the collision control, shank avoidance.

Nice stuff.. wouldn't have thought of that approach but it does indeed look like it produces a nice result.. that's one I am going to have to keep in mind in the future..
