am i doing something wrong?

mc ver x-6 .im using a pocket routine but it has islands.i need to finish the od of the islands(+.01)so i choose finish on the pocket perameters.i have to clear clamps so i must go up 4 in high .no matter what i do or change,retract,feed plane ,inc or absolute the tool feeed down from 4 inch.how can i get it to rapid closer?

set your clearance to 4inch, then feed plane as normal, that should do it..

that didnt work absolute or inc.it works if i do it as a contour and a seperate operation but not when combined in the pocketing routine

I don't have mcam handy but I think in the helix/ramp parameters page there is something for that. Or on the pocket finishing page you can see if thee is something in there. It sounds like you are just missing a ticked box somewhere.

Set clearance to 4. and feedplane .1 inc. Uncheck retract.
