Dynamic Milling with Copper?

Recommended Posts

I would be interested in information on this too as our company machines a fair amount of copper.

Please report your results to the Emastercam.com spreadsheet below. This has been so useful with all of the information it has

I have used dynamic milling successfully on many materials but never had a chance to use it on copper.  Has anyone used it on copper?  What were the results?  The material in question is 110 oxygen free.

Is that the same as C110?

If so, it cuts like butta.  Just use flood coolant. I use a standard OSG blizzard style endmill.. 3 flute, bright finish.

I just finished a couple of 99.9% pure copper. I was running OSG Blizzard 3 flute 3/8" endmills. I was running at 12000rpm and 216ipm at 12.5% step over at 1" depth of cut. I ran 200 pieces at 20mins each and never changed the endmill. I think you can use the dynamic tool paths on anything. they are great time savers and tooling savers too. my boss loves it.
