Can MasterCam be run on Apple computer?

Mastercam runs only under windows.

Maybe there is a windows shell for the apple's

I have a customer that uses some kind of windows shell on an apple to run MC.

 

Has anyone here tried running MC on linux's Xwindows?

From Linux, I'd feel safer running VMWare Workstation to run Mastercam.

Sure Mastercam runs on the Apple IIe, doesn't it? Just don't expect it to be a recent release!

I have run several of my 3D and CAD Cam programs via VMWARE in linux.

 

I wish Mastercam would make a linux version.

Mac users can buy software called Virtual PC. This is a product from Microsoft that will allow windows programs to run in MAC. I don't know how much of a preformance hit you would take doing this but it is an option..

I think Virtual PC was actually made by company called conetix or conectix, something like that.

 

However sine these type of programs are emulators of the x86 series processors they tend to be slow.

 

The speed can be increase by creating native windows partitions on your MAC drive, but since you will not have a real pentium processor you won't be able to go as fast as on a real Pee Cee.

 

Running under linux via Virtual PC is as fast as or faster than windoze because it's using native x86 code to run.

 

If your not doing a lot of 3D machining it might work fine.
