Why is Mazak so anal about 3D machine models

Recommended Posts

My company just purchased a NEW 2013 Integrex i-100 ST and Mazak wants $ 2000.00 for a 3D model of the machine for use in our Verification software...

And Mazak wants $ 2,000.00 plus I have to sign a non disclosure...

All I want is the machine envelope, I do not want the whole darn machine !!

You will still have to sign the NDA with the machine tool builder, but if you threatened to go with another brand, they will give it to you free. I always hold that over the machine tool builders heads on the purchase of a new machine, if I cant have the dumb solid models, I don't want the machine.  Some companies give it to you free and others want payment and a NDA.

I always advise people to make it a part of the PO requirements.

No Models, No Sale.

Now, when it comes to Mazak, they are a very special kind of stupid.

They seem to go out of their way to make people hate having bought one of their machines.

Good luck getting a service person in a timely fashion.

We made it a condition of the PO requirements when we ordered our Okuma MU500. They supplied STEP files, and they were perfect for creating our Vericut machine model.

They supplied the models within days of us placing the order. We had the model built before the machine was even close to arriving :)
