Hi everybody,

I want to know how you guys check for gouges when machining with negative stock?

I usually create an STL file from model and check gouges with respect to it but It doesn't apply when negative stock used in operaion. It's always possible that a transition/retract motion causes gouge.

I used to cut with negative stock all the time. Now I offset the surfaces and always cut my stock to zero. But anyway, generate your stl model from surfaces that you have already offset (and saved as a different file name) whatever the amount of negative stock you wish to cut. And use your STL compare to compare your cutterpath with your offset STL model.

that is fine if you only have a couple surfs.what if your model has 3000+ surfaces eek.gif

like thad said set your color map to compensate on your stl. negative stock for me all day every day biggrin.gif
