Create a copy of your MMD and CMD to make your changes and test in.

Okay you have a MMD with the 4th Axis on the Left side and you want to change it to be on the right side? In the Generic 4th Axis VMC you will see like what you said the VMC A Axis has the red arrow for the X+ which means the 4th Axis is on the left side. You want to have it on the right side. As you thought just take your mouse and click on the X- and now you are telling the MMD that the 4th Axis is on the Right side. You may need to also change direction, but that will require some testing.

Now if you want to simulate this setup Mastercam as far as I know does not have a machine setup with a Right Hand 4th Axis. We created one and here is the download for you to use. https://www.dropbox.com/s/f5gxzyb091sccvz/2_4AXGEN_VMCTA_4TH_RIGHT-SIDE.zip?dl=0

It is a use at your own risk setup and was done to give users ideas how they can explore and make the Machine Simulation more robust. It has adjustable jaws, Tail Stock, Tail Stock Quill with Live Center.
