highspeed waterline question

i would like to use this operation to finish the part im making.i used high speed area rough to rough it all out leaving .03 on everything.it cut very nicely.

this hs waterline looks great to finish everything but I cant get it to cut a large area on the floor.

is there a way to get it to cut the floor too?

No, Waterline is meant for walls... think waterfall.

 

I use HS Horizontal first... stay off the walls by about .010" more than the stock you left... that'll take care of your floors... then come back with that Waterline to finish the walls.

 

That's my favorite method.

 

Edit:

I think you are leaving too much stock... unless you are doing very big work, then .030" is prolly fine.

Waterline really isn't made to machine floors.  Use the waterline path to get your walls and radius transitions.  Several other finish toolpaths work better on floors.

You can use a hybrid perhaps....

 

Kind of a combination of waterline and 3D scallop.....

 

You can play with the wall angle settings and choose when it switches of to processing floor cuts from wall cuts

yes it is a big part .

its fairly complex and im wittling about 80 % of the material away.

once its done roughing I want to release the vices to see if it moves and then continue with the finishing.
