1936 Series SHCS's

I found this odd. We received a new fixture from a tool company new to us. The SHCS's were the old 1936 series that I haven't dealt with in years. If you don't know, the 1960 series replaced the 1936 series around 1960 I assume. The 1936 series had a smaller head diameter and hex key size. I asked our bin stock provider and he didn't realize there was two different types. I believe the UK still uses a lot of 36's but this fixture was built in the good ole USA.

Am I living a sheltered life and these are being used more than I thought?

Would you send gcode to a customer on a 5 1/4" floppy because you had some good ones in stock?  Those screws are 57 years out of date.

You're comparing apples to oranges. The screws still use unc & unf standards and they are still compatible with the tools in most mechanics boxes. Being old does not make them out of date. In fact the UK still uses more 1936 SHCS hardware than 1960. Both types are available and easily found for purchase. There are many applications in which the smaller head diameters of the 1936 series might be preferred.

However, I don't think anyone prefers 5 1/4" floppies...except maybe the guvment fer our nuclear missile launch facilities.
