issues with 2018 Tool Manager?

I am trying to run the 2018 Tool Manager as a standalone (MCAM not running) on a laptop with the complete 2018 Mastercam installed (no other version on the laptop). According to the help, it should work standalone once Mastercam 2018 has been run once. I ran 2018 MCAM, created a simple part and ran a toolpath on it. Then I saved it and closed MCAM, and ran jut the TM.  I selected the tool database (copied over from main computer) in TM. It shows the correct number of milling tools as in the same file from the main computer. Problem is, when I click on it, the system hangs, and I get the "not responding", and I eventually have to use Windows Task Manager to close it.

So, I put the SIM back in the laptop and opened an instance of MCAM and then opened the Tool Manager. Same thing happened, to my surprise. The main computer that the 2018 MCAM software is normally run on works fine with the 2018 Tool Manager, standalone or with MCAM running. Any ideas why this would not work on the laptop?

OS is Windows 10 with all current updates.

I have been having the same issue for weeks.  The problem starts with the OS of Windows 10, more specifically with the updates which are released periodically.  From my understanding, the cause for this specific issue with Mastercams Tool Manager is Windows 10 build 16299.64 of version 1709.  When contacting support for Mastercam,  they will tell you it's a graphics card issue, but it isn't entirely the reason for this issue.  Windows is keeping a tight lip on what the exact nature of the issues are in it's latest update.  Windows 10 is a different breed of computer with cloud based OS.  Many servers are located outside of the country, which if you are sending ITAR info, could even be labeled a federal offense.  The best thing to do IMO would be to have your IT department put your Mastercam on a different machine (Windows 7 is what I'd suggest).  Your only other option may be to wait it out and hope Windows releases a patch for the issues..but that's not certain, and also won't safeguard you from any future updates that may bring about other issues in the future.  I don't feel Windows 10 belongs in a business atmosphere, but that's just me.

There is your problem right there. I am running Win 10 1607 Version. I have kept rolling it back every time they have tried to jam the creators build down my throat. They keep it up and I will wipe this system and revert it back to a Win 7 System.

Agree and part of the the destabilization of America was Microsoft releasing Windows 10 IMHO. Yes it is that terrible of a release for an OS.
