version 8.1.1 problems...

This subject was covered earlier, but no solution was provided. Now the problem is still here, only it's backwards now.

When creating a pocket, there's an option to create additional finishing operations, which was always greyed out and un-available. Now it's still greyed out, but it's checked ON instead of off. What gives?

I like it better stuck off and un-usable, because it's not often I need to use anything other than the built in finishing operations for pocketing. Now, when I create a pocket operation, I get an easter egg with it; another operation. Now I get to delete an operation every time I create a pocket.

Try and check in your screen config under nc settings open default8.ops and go to the pocket program and check the parameter settings there. Maybe you'll be able to click it off. I don't know what else you could try. Mine is not greyed out so other than that I don't know what to tell you.

If your talking about the "pocketing paramters" tab, on mine its not greyed out, I can check or uncheck it. Or are you talking about another check box elsewhere?

It should only be greyed out when you are entering the parameters from Ops manager after completing the toolpath. You can only use that feature the frirst time you run the toolpath.

Mark H, Yes, in the pocketing parameters tab. It has always been greyed out, but in the OFF mode, which was fine.

gstephens, I only noticed it because the first operation I did on the first part with new version it created an extra operation. I couldn't figure out where it came from, (I initially thought I was getting senile, not remembering I created it. Man what a relief when I found the problem)

So... having had such good results with almost all previous upgrades from Mastercam, I didn't back up my originals prior to updating. I'm sooo annoyed, I'm thinking about re-installing 8.1 from scratch. (Yea, that'll make my day)

At least the patch loaded for you...when I run the patch it says old file not found and renames my mill8.txt file.

Mbowling make sure you try to run the file while it is in the Mc8 working directory. I recieved the same error when I tried to run it from my temp.

Also make sure you have the 8.1 dated

1-26-01 instead of 1-11-01.

I upgraded and now all my posts are acting differently!!!

All ready tool calls are for T0. I uninstalled the upgrade as they said and redid it without upgrading MPmill and they still do it. Whats up with that and what else has changed that I haven't found yet?

mcoates - A known Mp.dll issue for tool pre-staging. Surf over to the Patches section of this site and download Mp V8.21 made available to us by the Post Dept at CNC Software.

I had uninstalled V8.1 then reinstalled it and just upgraded with m81-811rel only.

Will do a full upgrade on Monday including MPv8.21.

When I get a new tool,If the filter is active,i see no tools.

I have to cancel the filter,and then i get the list of all the tools in the library.

it is since i installed the new mill patch.

found the problem.

I changed in the filter parameters to metric and everything is back to normal

Mbowling: The 8.1.1 patch only works on the officail v8.1 release which was 1-26-01. The .exe's dated 1-11-01 were on a beta site/dealer only pre-release disc. If you never got the official v8.1 release disc, contact your dealer and have them send you one.
