Rotating stock about 'Y" axis

Hi friends

I added customized fixture into X+ which is a Trunnion. The Trunnion rotates with the workpiece about 'Y" axis using

D xform  but the stock won't rotate. Is there a fix to rotate stock? can it be modified?

Can you show a file?  Are you using the stock under machine definition or stock model toolpath?

That's correct, around 'Y" axis. As you can see the red hidden line is the stock. When rotated with D xform, the stock doesn't rotate with the workpiece and the Trunnion.

The two things that jump out for me are:

WCS should be Center of Rotation of the 4 axis head.

Use rotate planes function and select y axis for the rotation axis to generate your 4 axis angles

Hi Nickbe10.

I am using default 3 axis. If I choose 4th axis, it is possible, no doubt about that.

I'd like to verify within the toolpath.

There is no reason to move the models.

Create new planes and this problem will disappear.

If you don't have a 4 axis MD and CD and a post capable of 4 axis you will not get rotated output.

You will have to run it through a rotation macro. It is not just the angle that changes, the position of the origin on the part also changes, unless your WCS origin is on the center of rotation, which yours is not.

Your verification might look OK (depending how you have your system set up), but your toolpath will be incorrect
