STL to solid or surfaces

Can any body point me in the right direction of a converter stl to surface or parasolid please, just that its now getting to me that I cant do this in mc v9 sp2

To convert STL to surface exists a Chook called stl2surf.dll, in FTP into folder called Chooks.

As STL to Parasolid, I believe that MC don´t make this conversion.

What for do you want to convert your STL

Do you know that you can mill your stl file as it is ?

And see it in shading too (only in verify )

I need to manipulate the model to create mold n dies etc

Stl2surf is a nice chook, but will make lots of surfs. If you need a really clean model then a program like raindrop geomagic is needed and not cheap. Another alternative that is more affordable would be rhino3d, but the results arent as good. HTH

If you can get the parasolid or sat or even Iges format part you better use them .Anything except STL !

If no , I will explain later what options do you have .

With stl its like in the old days when engineers put sketchs on the back of *** sorry! cigarette packs(*** means cig in uk) cheapo solid model packages all do stl out put, so sometimes I have to live with stl.

Every solid modeler (most ,at least) can output Iges ) .

1000 times better potion than STL !!!

If you can get Parasolid or Sat even 1000 more better .

Even without Moldplus you can convetrt surfaces to Solid if you have MC ver 9 and Solids .

With a solid using boolian operations you can make cavities and so on in 10 minutes .

I know this situation when your boss lick xxxx to

a client ,afraiding to ask anything ,while their designer is a dumb xxxx .

But explain to your boss that you are loosing

$$$$ in time and quality and he may listen to you and ask .

And it is a matter of 10 minutes .
