  1. Hi , I'm in hurry and must assemble new systems, want to know if anybody has any comment about this: P4 1.7GB - Gigabyte 8IRX or 8IRXP- 1GB DDR-ATI Radeon 8500 64 MB-60 GB IDE HD The main applications are MC 8.11 (or 9) , SolidWorks 2001plus,Solid Edge 11,UG18,Catia 5r7 (and of course 3D games as well ) Oses: Win2K pro- Win XP pro Thanks
  2. Thanks Andreas and Consultant.
  3. Hi Eric, Do you get message when you import your solidworks files? I imported the same size files from solidworks 2001 SP14 to Mastercam without that message. Only I got untrimmed surface message but not a critical error. However I most often import my solidworks files as surfaces not solid in V8.11 because of better control in drive/check surface. But this changes in V9 and hope I'll import them as solid in V9. I think Win2K pro is the best especially when it comes to old systems and old graphics card even better than XP Pro.I worked in MC ans SW with an old system 450III S3 Savage4 (ouch) 256MB without errors, except that it was slow. 4. Hi Raj, According to what I've heard so far , Yes it's faster. Especially when you change some variables such as prog number, feed, etc you don't have to regen whole op. But I do not think or expect the decrease in calculation time of a new operation exceeds 10 percent. Actually I asked this from a friend and he told me the regen time of an scallop finish op changed from 52 sec(in V8.11 Level 3) to 48 sec (V9 Level 3). Hope it helps
  5. Thanks for your quick response . Maybe when we upgrade our MC I will give it a try with MoldPlus 8.x.
  6. Hi mold100, Have you tried MoldPlus 8.x with Mastercam 9? Did it generate errors or something? We're about to upgrade to MC9 and want to know if it's necessary to upgrade our moldplus too. current config: MC 8.11 level 3 + solid mold plus 8.01.02 level 3 + solid sep + electrode maker + catia write/read 8.1.x Thanks. 7. Hi folks, I just want to know what C-Hooks have been updated for V9, especially MoldPlus ,Catia Read/Write, ReversePost , APT from 4D Engineering. Thanks
  8. Soooo, correct me if I'm wrong: "He can not select 2 separate boundaries with compensate inside or outside in parallel finish" , ok? And to my surprise he told me that he could not use such a thing in ANY OTHER OPERATIONS not only for parallel finish. Thanks
  9. Thanks for your patience. And I hope this problem can be fixed sometime soon. KWOLF
  10. Hi , I sent your file to my friend . He told me if you select two separate boundaries , not two nested boundaries, you get wrong result. Thanks
  11. Will you upload a sample for me to show him? Sorry for inconvenience. Thanks
  12. How about color 13 (the right hand side solid)? I put three solid to show the steps in creating the final invalid solid from left to right. You can create any solid in any application and see this error. The finecut got the idea. I first saw this problem long ago and have not found any patch or remedy to it. However thanks for your attention. [ 02-24-2002, 02:50 PM: Message edited by: kwolf ]
  13. Dear Jay, Will you please create a parallel finish with 2 boundaries and select compensatation in TCB? Thanks
  14. Then please check solid-problem in MC8 folder. i'm sure it's not graphics problem or such a thing rather this is a common kernel error.
  15. Again thanks Jay. I tell them to send me parasolid version.
  16. Will you look at FTP. The file is solid-problem.jpg in pic folder. I send the MC8 file right now.
  17. Hi, Anybody here has a exprience with Think3's think Design? I've to do machining on a complicated model created in Think Design .And I think the version is 7. Which translator do the best for it and with what tolerances? My config Mill Level 3 Solid. Thanks
  18. I've tested it with many systems Pro/e Catia UG SolidWorks Solid Edge MDT 6 Mastercam and many more below the shell is 1 and fillet is 20 for better visualization.
  19. Let's try this: 1- create a box 50x50x50 . 2- create a shell with removing top face (1 face)and a value of 1 . 3- create a fillet on 4 edged on bottom face with a value of 5 . 4- voila the geo is incorrect
  20. Thanks Jay. He selected 2 chains in parallel finish and selected compensate inside/outside all chains with 1 mm. [ 02-24-2002, 01:43 PM: Message edited by: kwolf ]
  21. Thanks , Forgot to mention , he selected compensate inside/outside with multiple chains. Will you please check with compensate? Thanks
  22. Thanks Jay, And no the fillet is constant and smaller than the face and do not remove any face at all but the resulting geo was entirely incorrect and if you check it in any cad the software report error. In fact I tested it with many cad systems from catia and pro/e to solidworks and mastercam.
  23. Hi , The questions are regarding V9. It seems there's a new feature in Tool Center Boundary with which you can shrink/enlarge your TCB by some distance. But one of my friend told me that if you select more than one chain , the software ignores all the boundaries. Is it right? If so is there any patch to download? I have some questions about V9 since my boss have not upgraded it yet. Is it possible in V9 to design assemblies? Or import assemblies from SolidWorks or any other CAD? Is it possible in V9 to have a solid that has some faces selected as drive faces and some faces selected as check faces? Thanks.
  24. Hi, Is it possible to design a solid in any Solid Modeler (any kernel) with only 3 or 4 simple feature (only protrusion of a rectangle , constant fillet ) and get inconsistent or invalid solid? If so , then is solid modeling reliable? KWOLF
