  1. Hey Ted, Can I see the line you passed also?
  2. Good evening All, I am working on some "government" work, and I ran into what has got to be a brain fart on my behalf(where it usually is). I want to make what is essentially a nightcrawler. The ends are tapered, and I want to put "ribs" along the straight and tapered portions, .03" wide, spaced .047" apart. I cannot believe that I would have to mess around with all these arcs to get this done. Anybody got an idea, maybe two? The worm is 6" long if that helps to paint the painful picture...oh this is for X3 by the way. Thanks up front
  3. Thanks Ron, sorry for the short description. I currently have an Excel sheet with the dimensions to be checked, my issue is "linking" the drawing to the spreadsheet so that when the operator opens up the spreadsheet, the drawing also opens. I was also thinking that maybe it could be done via a pdf form, but my web searching isn't turning up much. I like the database idea, that would take the plan further, possibly allowing for all items related to a job be "linked"(I can't think of a better word) together. Probably my biggest dilemma is that for 98% of work, the programs are done, I have essentially had to hand write the tool lists, and inspection documentation is a joke at best. sorry for the long winded rant, this lack of organization and know-how is getting the better of me lately.
  4. Good Afternoon all, I am wondering if anyone has advice for creating linked inspection forms from scratch. I don't have 3d data to speak of, but I desperately need to get away from pencil and paper data. And of course, it has to be as close to gratis as possible(boss is buying). Thanks in advance...
  5. has anyone tried this on a two-path control?
  6. I use a G11, works great. I only wish that it was like the Space Pilot, and automatically switched key assignments when you switched applications.
  7. What about the post for the Mori MT/NT machines? It uses the misc real to at least output the sync codes
  8. Hello mm37, Welcome to the forum! That sounds like a operating system issue. I have never ran into this, but I did a Google search, possibly relevant info here: Information Hopefully that helps...
  9. Hello Rookie Cam, You are leaving out too much information for the possibility of any help(from me anyway). You want to simply find a solution, or are you trying to create this compound? Where are the angles coming from? Regardless, more is needed.
  10. so this must be before calling the offset? I was thinking tool measurement after cutting.....
  11. I do believe you need to have at least one operation selected
  12. Welcome to the forum! They may seem like dumb questions, but what version of Mastercam are you running? Also, I would suppose that you do have operations/machine groups in the op manager?
  13. I meant that I know where they are "hidden" that's all.
  14. Chris, if you want to know where they are, send me an email. I am calling Renishaw right now
  15. I am always on our sales rep about wanting his money before the machine is actually running. Usually we get our machine in, get the tilt-rotary table on it, and the next day we are making parts. My boss says he is holding the last 15% hostage. The issue with the additional 2 grand is that it wasn't on the paperwork for the approval to purchase the machine. But maybe some creative wording can sneak it past the controller, it is worth a try. Should I just get the software for the laser, or should I get the probing stuff while I am at it?
  16. Thanks Lars, unfortunately, the only thing I have from Renishaw is the installation manual. None of the software is installed on the control as far as I can tell, maybe I can get our Okuma sales rep to foot the bill...
  17. Is there a parameter in the control to send each as a seperate file?
  18. Good Evening/Morning all, I just finished the set-up of this laser system on our Okuma MB46 with an OSP-P200 control. I can set the tool length, the tool radius, as well as check wear and breakage for both. I am using all Okuma routines, as I don't have anything from Renishaw. I would like to check the corner radius, initially for breakage, eventually I want to use it to prevent the wrong tool from being used. I am also looking for as much info as I can find on creating library programs for automating the tool setting/breakage cycles so that the operators don't have to "do so much work". Thanks in advance.
  19. +1 Then for those of us that use both until we are comfortable enough to uninstall the old, this would leave all user config files unharmed. Did I understand the question right John?
  20. Cool, thanks guys. I was only looking at it from a file size standpoint.
  21. Good Morning all, is there an advantage in Mastercam to using a part file(ipt) versus an assembly(iam) file? I tried Google search as well as here, with no relevant results. The assembly file is roughly 10 percent the file size and has all of the components. Did I miss something? Thanks in Advance
  22. I create most of my geometry and solids so I use rotate about 90% of the time. If I get a model I use solid face. I have only had a few times when the designer cheated and marked up the drawing and didn't change the model. Never had any problems with Mastercam itself.
