  1. Hello all, I originally posted this in the main forum, and it was suggested to bring it here. I have a bunch of parts that I need to create roughly 15 new Cplane/Tplanes on. My current process is; Rotate Gview Enter my rotation values Accept the result Name and save the Gview Type the name Click to set as WCS Set Planes = to Gview Create a point on an existing arc Reset my WCS to Top Change my Cplane/Tplane origin to the point just created Click on update Reset my Gview to Top(WCS) start over... I tried using macros, but I don't see how to get the whole thing automated with macros. I did do some searching, and I didn't see anything in the Mastercam VBScript help file for creating rotated views, only for physically rotating. Would this mean NETHook/C-Hook? I am using X4, but I will use X3 if I need to! Any and all help is appreciated.
  2. Thanks for the replies. Bjorn I will post in the developers forum. Ron, are you saying that I need to look at the NETHook, C-Hook avenue?
  3. Sato-san, I initially had a problem with a crash report being generated every time Mastercam was closed in X3. I uninstalled AI Utility then. I now also have X4 installed on my system, and I am using your AI Utility X4 beta without issues. I am running Vista Business x32 sp2. I hope this helps you out, and thanks for all the hard work!
  4. When I am at my desk, I use Logitech Spacepilot, G11 keyboard,M500 mouse all plugged in to my docking station. When away, I use wireless keypad, MX laser bluetooth mouse, and a notebook SpaceNavigator.
  5. I agree with Chris. If you can get your hands on a high feed cutter, at the correct parameters, it sounds like you could open alot of eyes over there. And since they have such a high positive rake, you can save a little on the horsepower required to get it done. HRC30 isn't crazy for 4340, well within indexable range, but it is definitely in your best interest to call your rep, and as I hear it, they will be glad to hear potential work is looking for them! HTH
  6. Hey Malibu, We have a NL2500SY-700, great machine, one huge down side, the spindles aren't of equal capacity. Just a note in case you need to do heavy turning on the sub-spindle
  7. I now see what you mean, and it also strips out characters such as the backslash. Originally I had started with a text file, not an actual NC file, maybe there is a setting for the language? Doesn't seem to be a whole lot in the help file. I normally use the Cimco editor, that also comes free with Mastercam, and doesn't have any problems that I have seen in that area.
  8. Hey Billet, I just tried this out and it seems to work ok. Look at the line at the bottom where it says "Omit Sequence Numbers Starting With" and make sure all is good there. If I am not mistaken, if any line starts with any of the characters listed, it will strip the sequence number from that line. HTH
  9. Good Morning All, I have a bunch of parts that I need to create roughly 15 new Cplane/Tplanes on. Currently I; Rotate Gview Enter my rotation values Accept the result Name and save the Gview Type the name Click to set as WCS Set Planes = to Gview Create a point on a previously created arc Reset my WCS to Top Change my Cplane/Tplane origin to the point just created Click on update Reset my Gview to Top(WCS) start over... I tried using macros, but I don't see how to get the whole thing automated with macros. I did do some searching, and I didn't see anything in the Mastercam VBScript help file for creating rotated views, only for physically rotating. Would this mean NETHook/C-Hook? 10. Is it anything with the material/operation settings
  11. oops, I didn't read closely enough. Did you modify the control definition from within the part file, or go thru the Machine definition?
  12. Hi Alex, Welcome to the forum! You did not mention what version of Mastercam you are using, as well as what post. If it is a newer MPMaster post, this is now located in the Control definition in the "Tool" section. HTH
  13. I am thinking you need another variable somewhere, of course I already stated I was a rookie...or maybe you could still pull it from g_wcs and add the leftover to p_wcs from a rookie
  14. Hi Ted, I am a total rookie here, does the G54.1 part ever change? So it would be G54.1P1-n and then any number over 5 up to n is the P address?
  15. Daniel, The ram settings are in the configuration settings and are saved in your .config file.
  16. Thanks John, That being said, I could start with the Fanuc 5ax post that came with the X3 install? I know that there is locking of the posts, I just wanted to be sure to get the most open possible post I could. Makes sense about the 3+2 vs 5 axes, just never really stopped to think about it. Thanks again.
  17. Good Morning All, I have had a call in to my reseller for almost 2 weeks now, so I hope I am not crossing any off limits areas. I am wondering if there is a X3 MPMaster for Okuma vertical mills....the machines are MB-46VA with Tsudakoma tilt-rotary tables. We don't do full 5 axis work, mostly 3+2 with some axis substitution. Thanks in advance.
  18. I am with you Thad. If there wasn't web downloads available, I don't get my new release/maintenance updates until about 3 months after the official release. Of course my reseller could be looking out for me and making sure I get a better product...and Bernie, right now, Michigan does suck!
  19. Just got everything installed on my first try with Vista...and seeing these times, I must have done something wrong! 3m 52.336s Dell Precision M4400 Laptop Windows Vista Business SP1 (32 bit) Intel Core 2 Duo T9800 @ 2.93GHz RAM-4GB DDR2-800MHz Hard drive-Hitachi 320GB-7200 RPM Nvidia Quadro FX 770M
  20. SnowDay, I don't use probing cycles, but if you do a search on probing and or custom drill cycles, you will be surprised on how many of these talented individuals have set up this very thing to run inside Mastercam. I don't know if you were willing to do the work or wanting the work done. Have you explained the ever increasing cost of doing something by hand versus automation to your boss? Not to mention that the mere chance that you will make a mistake has got to be worth a little bit.
  21. Bryan, Max on any 32 bit OS if I am not mistaken
  22. Ronnie, If you are buying a refurbished, you should be able to get far more for $2000. I just found this on the outlet just now. 23. To my knowledge, I don't think that the MCXEditor will do any math functions. Cimco handles this quite nicely though.
  24. Do you have a lead in value set?
  25. that's kind of what I currently have, except I did half of the straight the same way. I was hoping for a bit quicker, but maybe I am doing it half right to begin with. and thanks Ocean!
