Having trouble finding a 3mm cutter with a .3 corner radius. we use osg but they dont have one that i see. Need to mill s-7 @ 54-56 any suggestions would be great. thinking millstar or jabro but their websites suck thanks for your advice
thanks
Thanks Prosin Molds
Actually this isnt our first Makino, we have a hyper 5 which is a different tool changer really goofy actually. But i am sure we will like this one a lot more. We also have 2 SNC64 for graphite. Do you have Makinos there?
Hey guys, have a couple questions for you. We are getting a new V33 tomorrow and i was wondering about some setup stuff and what you guys suggested. First I will need to get a new post for this machine. In the post i was wondering if i should set it so that after each tool change it goes and re picks up the tool. There will be a Blum laser for pick up. My concern is that when running unattended, if a cutter should break and its set to pick up when it does a tool change it will be very bad because no tool there and it would try to mill with the tool holder . If it didnt do a pick up then it would cut air for that tool which afterwards would make it bad for the following tool. Any suggestions???? Is there a way to set it so that if there is a variance of say more than .01 or so that it would alarm out???
thanks
One more idea
if the ends are overhang then maybe have to cylindrical boss's attached to help it be more rigid, only work if the ends are cleared though.
looks like its on a shank.? Is there any way you could have it mounted on an erowa or 3r so it would be more rigid and maybe leave a larger radius at the bottom where it would connect to a full width style block/shank? I would just try that then your feeds and speeds hopefully wouldnt need adjusted. they look a little quick for how it appears to be mounted on a shank
My .02
Hey guys,
I guess we are getting a new makino v33. My question is whats your opinion on a vise vs a magnet. i currently use a magnet for milling hard steel and love it. The boss wants a vise in the new machine but i would prefer a stronger magnet so that it would withstand the larger cuts. My luck shows that a vise never seems as repeatable as as the magnets. Whats your opinion??? The one machine i have a vise and a magnet in i feel this is the best setup, the other just has a magnet. That way i can choose which workstation it goes in. i like the walker magnets. Any experience with the turbo mill magnets that they have.
thanks for any input.
maybe it got pushed off your screen since its it own window, what happens if you minimize X2 will it appear??? the dialogue box can move all over and change size easily. try the mininmize thing. Other than that im confused as well
Well its been solved. The problem was the machine wanted the arcs broken into segments, but it was posting as though there was just one arc. In the settings this can be changed and all is well again.
Thanks everyone for your input.
Until next time
i viewed it in all views, with verify on and off and according to the backplot i thought it was right. i also used an NC editor program and it shows exactly what its doing in the machine. thats why i wonder if its not the post????
I just started using x2 two days ago. I cut a runner with 16 drops in hard steel and had very little issues. Now I go to cut two dowels in the backside of the same plate and cant get the contour toolpath to generate a good path. when i backplot it, it shows it correctly going to the center of the hole, drop down in z, perpindicular to the edge, around the arc, then .01 past for an overlap, back to center, and keeps going to depth. When i send it to the machine it only goes from center of hole, to perpindicular to the edge, then up the .010 overlap back to center and continues to depth, never establishing the O.D of the dowel. this is a simple concept but for some odd reason i am missing either a click somewhere or my post is messed up orim just that dumb. Can anyone give me a suggestions??? thanks
