  1. Still using Shearhogs here also.

Love them....used with the honed inserts, a freer cutting you won't find.

Years ago at one place we were doing larger plates with a flatness callout of something like .008. Had problems and usually used the whole tolerance with the cutters they were using. Got them to buy a Shearhog to try. Without changing anything we went to flatness of .002-.003.

The Haas NGC template won't let you probe Z+. However, you can program a Z+ single surface by directly using inspection plus routines. Which your Haas has, you just can't use the Haas GUI.

Hmmm. I will have to email Haas and ask about that. I was told directly by Haas it could not be done with the probe because it will not trigger. The new NGC sucks IMO. I can do stuff faster and better on my 2005 control. Used to be able to paste straight to a program from the old VQC templates if I remember correctly. Now everything needs to be written out using the inspection plus. Always thought one of the best thing about Haas was the controls. Now not so much. And the interlocks have me banging my head against the machine. Can't even turn on a chip conveyor to clean the machine with the doors open. :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Why is this not working?  All I get is -99999, also test = opinfo(15332, 0) will yield the same result.

         if op_id$ <> xform_op_id$, #Inside transform?
          [
           test = opinfo(15332, 0, 0010)
           *test, e$
          ]

EDIT: Actually param 15332 is work offset numbering type, but that's what I am trying to get, despite misleading topic.

EDIT2: I don't get it. Now it mysteriously started to work, despite code being exactly the same, and operations being exactly identical. Is it possible that Mastercam fails to reload the modified/updated post processor file into memory for some reason (it is on network drive) which can cause glitches?!

I'm curious. Were you trying to get your post to put out a G57?

  4. Our new VF2 has the Renishaw tool and spindle probes. We do many jobs that come from the center opening of extruded wave guide stock. One job we have to do we mill all 4 sides holding a dimension to the center. I was wondering if anyone has used a right angle tip inside of a machine for picking up in Z axis in the center of an opening.

    Somethig like this.....

    To probe ....

Who else has a customer that is a real pain in the arse?  Like changes the part after you already have it done!  Gives you a print that's different from the solid model!!  Makes revision changes, but doesn't list what they changed!  AND THEY KEEP WANTING TO KNOW WHY THEIR PARTS ARN'T DONE..............

THIS IS ME RIGHT NOW!  😡😡    :wallbash::wallbash:  🤬🤬

Sounds like my place. But here we do it to ourselves. Print different from the model is standard MO. Getting better as we internalize more and more machining. I go in and make him fix it. Best is when we get stuff he has made outside on the cheap and we fix it.

THIS is exactly what I was fishing for. We were comparing EC to MC and one issue that came up (in MC's favor) was the "helpful forum". I told them if you disagree with the MC children, they band up like Lie a group of angry teenage girls. I LOVE THIS SITE! LOL!!! You all helped me nail this coffin. EC it is. LOL. This is the 3rd time in a row.

BTW...if those of you that failed the 3rd grade experiment, if you missed out on the DAY they covered outlines, I would be more than happy to help you out.

THIS is what I hear from this statement.

I'm an azzhole. They called me out for being an azzhole.

Has anyone out there tried this yet:

Can you please try the following workaround - which has been successful in our testing :

    • Shutdown MC
    • Use the File Explorer to browse to the location of your SolidWorks install (usually C:\Program Files\SolidWorks Corp\SOLIDWORKS - though if you've got multiple SW installs you'll see SOLIDWORKS(2), SOLIDWORKS(3), etc)
    • Locate SldPropertyHandler.DLL and rename it to have an extension other than .DLL (do this in each the SW Install subfolders if you've got multiple versions)
    • Now start MC - Hopefully the crashes which occur shortly after opening SW files inside MC will stop.

Locked out of even being able to change a file name. Will see if I can get the boss to log me in as an administrator tomorrow and try the fix.

Just curious. Does Mastercam not have the ability to recognize hole features by windowing part and setting all those holes to a group?

There are a couple of different ways to sort or select holes by size. The c-hook sort circles will actually grab them by size give them all a separate color and move each size to it's own level. So the answer is yes. :D

No problems here.  What file format is your solid?  What windows system are you using?  If you can put up a solid that crashes, I will see what happens with it here.

The file format is .SLDPRT and I am running Windows 10.  I narrowed it down that when I create a tool path it crashes. I can manipulate the hell out of the geometry but as soon as I create a tool path or 2 it crashes. I have been in touch with a guy I know at CNC Systems and sent him a file. He was able to replicate it. He has logged it with a number. Thanks for the responses. Will  update if they get back to me with a solution. The weird part is after the crash when Mastercam restarts itself it is stable. If I shut down Master and start a new session it will crash but not on the restart.

  10. Running 2019 and since I started running it  Mastercam will crash soon after opening a solid part file. I have gotten into the habit of immediately saving as a Mastercam file but within a couple of minutes it will crash and open the box to send a crash report then restart. After opening the same file saved as a .mcam no issues. Same files opened in 2018 with no issues. Any one else having this issue. I have sent off the report with a description of the problem and an email address attached multiple times.

    Thanks

Mine is always minimized and reduced the number of ribbons to this layout.

    image.thumb.png.a06385be82e6f66bd51730041ec69cb4.png

    Here is my QAT.

    Here is my RMB

I also keep mine minimized all the time. My RMB is bare minimal. I find the more you have on there you end up scrolling almost as much as using the ribbon bar. Seeing as how I have used my computer for years gaming moving the mouse is quick and easy for me. A small wrist movement and I'm where I want to be. I thought this discovery pretty neat because if you have your ribbon bar minimized and do something like create a line it closes the tab after you select create a line. With a double click the wireframe tab stays open allowing you to scroll through multiple commands and then with a simple double click it is back to hidden. I also  have hot keys set up for different commands. I have never gotten why they made such a big deal about the customization of 2017, 2018 and 2019. I have been customizing ribbon bars and RMB since the release of X.

  12. Capture.PNG.e1bd5f73f7ea74afd4ae1a6e6fe7372b.PNGUntitled2.thumb.png.dd9b12b02f5d394ef41f804a84aab6fe.pngUntitled.thumb.png.b0a1bef0e51bb78925d726118643808c.png

Discovered today you can toggle the locking and unlocking of the ribbon bar by a simple double click instead of a right click and checking or unchecking the minimize ribbon. Double click the tab area and it will lock and unlock the ribbon bar on the fly. For instance creating wireframe geometry double click it stays locked open allowing to do lines then circles then points etc... etc.. without having to re-click the tab. Then double click when done and the ribbon bar is re minimized to be hidden.

I just pace a point at the theoretical point where the material would be without a chamfer.

    Might take 30 seconds...

Bounding box. Select corner. Then delete box if desired. 20 seconds. :P

Usually i create a bounding box on a separate level when I start just for this reason. Easy to just pick a corner.

I'm getting "Here, make some of these so we can test them in the morning" at 4:30pm.

    And I deliver.

Man I do not miss that. The place I am at now we do microwave components. Almost everything gets brazed. Then maybe machined again, Then plated or chromated. Possibly painted. Then tested. Nothing ships by Friday. Everything is weeks to months out. I recently had a job offer with almost a 15 percent pay raise. It was back to a job shop. I thought about it and decided it was not worth it. They want me back in that rat race going to have to offer more than that.

Is there a simple way to get a count on the number of selected entities? I know you can copy the selection to a new level and then wipe out the new level but it seems like there ought to be a simpler way.

After selecting entities hit Alt+E then go to screen statistics. Then simply hit Alt+E to bring everything back visible.
