  1. No deep pockets here, yet I break alot more chips with my high end mazaks than I do my low end machines. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. If one can afford a Mazak it is definitely worthwhile. Mazaks are very reliable when it comes to heavy duty, accurate cutting. As long as one can truly afford it... Our first CNC's were Mazaks. Tinkered with several different brands. From here out I'll purchase nothing but Mazaks, they are reliable. Service is a different issue however...
  2. There is a reason for the manual speed and feed over-rides on the control... If there was a magical formula, there would be a machine shop on every block. I'd suggest sidetracking the bossman, get him into researching the ever-rising material costs... works every time!
  3. I agree with Pip How much time does a guy truly get to devote... This is the greatest variable
  4. BTW How reliable does everyone find the feeds and speeds charts...
  5. Most important... Keep the E-stop nearby

I am wondering if anyone has the thread drawings for 4 start threads on STS drill tubes? I have been unable to find this anywhere. Any information would be appreciated, (Lead time on these tubes are killing me). Thank you Jeremy
  7. A little off subject, but I know someone has been down this road. I am setting up my first horizontal treepan machine for drilling round bar. Anyone have any suggestions on who has the best tools available? Of course all salesman say they have the best... Im drilling 18' lengths 4145HT to start. Id like to get it right the first time, if anyone has any input Id love to hear it.
  8. I used trim for 6 years with many problems. We believe the chlorine content in the trim was the culprit. Switched to hocut, and would never go back. Ive had nothing but success, its the best Ive seen yet. I dont know how many coolants Ive seen over the past 20 years...
  9. Wyoming here, plenty of Mazak's though.
  10. Let me know when you do figure this one out. We thread api non-stop, and have not figured it out either
  11. You should try calling Vardex. I have never actually heard of this thread myself, but they do take care of a lot of the different threadforms. Tech support Tom has helped me a lot in the past.
  12. just shot it off to you john. Thanks
  13. Was wondering if anyone has any clue how to program this function in 10. I have attempted all day with no success. Id be more than willing to zip to go and let someone look at it, if someone would be willing. Thanks, Jeremy
  14. I run on both a Dual core as well as a laptop .I can see no difference between the two. The dual core pc is much faster when jumping in between programs on the pc but appears to have no effect on the mastercam program itself.
  15. Thanks guys Ill give that a try. I appreciate the help
  16. Hi all. I am a new mastercam user, Ive been using Mazak camware for 7 years and am now beginning the switch. I am currently trying to figure out how to assign sequence numbers and process numbers so that I can pick up anywhere in my program that I want. I am starting with one of our M32 controls. Ive read in my programming book about assigning these numbers using G424 and G420's however when I edited my program with these codes it did not work. I know one of you guys know what I am doing wrong or may know of an easier way. If someone could show me the light it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
  17. Thank you all for your help. Im up and running today. Tape I/O was the way to go. I simply had to alter a few parameters in the controls, and get rid of the %. Once again thank you.now im off to buy some EIA options for our older controls Thanks to wonderful mazak.
  18. No none of my controls have two rs232 ports, only one. I know where the dnc i/o button should be, but it simply is not there. Went through and verified all the parameters for the dnc i/o. All were there and input correctly. On one of our turning centers the dnc button is there, once activated we recieve the alarm:option not found. Went into the version on the control, and confirmed we do not have the dnc i/o option. It puzzles me that cmt i/o works for camware yet not for mastercam. Im hoping im making a simple mistake. As far as camware goes, we are still running it today, until mastercam is fully online. We decided to go with mastercam because it is ten times more powerful. The Camware package does not support EIA/ISO, it is conversational only. It is only a 1 1/2 axis cam program, as it is limited by the mazatrol conversational options in the controller. Also Camware does not handle other machine tools, as posts may not be imported.Mazatrol controllers are the only controllers supported in the program. 19. I have just purchased mastercamX for the first time ever. I am currently trying to configure my machines and pc to communicate. I have several mazaks, controllers ranging from M1-fusion640. None of my machines have a DNC I/O option in the data I/O fields. We have been using the Mazak Camware for several years, which utilizes the CMT I/O function on the controller. As far as any other related options go we do have the EIA/ISO programming option. Is there any secret to using the CMT I/O command with mastercam? How should I go about this? If you are a mazak user, you know exactly what kind of optimum support I've recieved from them. Their solution is to sell me more options of course. Anything you guys could do to help would really be appreciated. Thanks, Jeremy
