Hi Shifter,
This is a GPI (Glass packing institute) thread. 48 is the thread size and 400 is the finish. Go to www.gpi.org they have drawings there under tech/stats info.

Hi,
Are you using any lubrication on the puches? You can finish the punch and die to size then heat treat if you like, what kind of clearance are you runing between the punch and die? You should not need any where near 62Rc for Aluminum, I would say 57 to 58. We used to use D2 to stamp 1/4" steel plate with no problems.

Hi Eric,
Did you convert the solid to a surface? It will give you more options. Create curve on all edges as well.

Hi Vadim,
The .EMCX can open .MCX but not the other way around. The only thing you can do is save it as a DXF and loose your toolpaths. You can try contacting In-House Solutions your reseller, they should be able to help you.

Hi James and Lars,
We have a NC4 on our machine with some noted problems. The tools must be clean (no oil, dust etc) so graphite dust would be and issue. The spindle taper needs to be dry and clean.
The Renishaw guy set ours up (we made the bracket out of .25 heavy wall 1.5 x 3.0" tubing). The sending unit and receiver lens need to be cleaned. You need to check the alignment of these by checking the voltage.
We just use ours for measuring the tools since we only do one offs and mostly short jobs.
How old is your NC4 Lars? Any other problems?
The Renishaw guy in our area is a freind of mine so he helps me out if there is a problem.

Hi,
the quality is only as good as the scan or file. It is not as easy as a simple conversion in most cases.

Hi,
I would use circle mill, pick a point (not the chain) The cutter will enter in the center of the hole. Use wear so the operator can adjust hole size if required.

Hi,
We use it all the time on manual equipment, regular coolant with HSS tools. Run them slower then normal and watch out for chipping of the macor. It is expensive as well almost $100.00 per cubic inch. It is used alot in Ultra High Vacuum applications.

Hi Foolsh,
After you put in the MOO make sure you check the program carefully to see if the "G54" line is there. M00 is a hard stop.

Hi Jerosu,
+1 to circle mill, use a point instead of the geometry then you can type the size you want the hole to be. It will plunge in the center of the hole and then move outward.

Hi,
the crazy thing with Fanuc is the memory is there, you just need to pay for a parameter change. All the 9000 parameters are locked and cannot be unlocked by normal means.

Hi Dragracer,
We have an OiMb here and use a 256 compact flash card, we were told nothing larger than a 512.
Make sure when you format it that it is FAT.
I tried using a 1gig sd card and it would not work.
