  1. try using regenerate display list when it happens. It happens to me occosionally when i am using hide and turn on other levels. I regenerate display, turn shading off and on, and its back to normal. klmcnc (never mind, missed your own reply)
  2. I am running mcx mr1 with a mazak nexus 510chs machining center. I am trying to edit the mpmaster for x off this site. I am trying to get it to automatically post out the staging of the tools( large number of tool changes really get to be a pita.) I have enabled the staging tools in the controll definition, but it puts the staged tool number a couple of lines later. I need T01 T05 M06, instead i get T01 M06, with the T05 at the end of a line with the offset with the in use tool. any help would be appreciated.
  3. sounds like an aluminum magnet to me. didn't see the file, ftp didn't like me. are these square holes on the side or going up and down.
  4. i have been using x-mr1 for 3 months now and my first impressions still are right, icons s!!! and it is slower than 9.1. that being said i'm not going back to 9.1 just wait till they fix all the bugs and bad logic. i wish mc would not try to redesign the world in one release, that is where most of the problem comes in, they forgot what they learned in the past to "start new". and all those who say customization is the key are wrong. i could get anything done in 9 without customizing, i don't want to have to redesign the interface to use it, what if i go to another computer, i'll be lost, try teaching someone on a different computer with different customization. customization is a great additional fiture, but it should not be needed for all applications. why did they have to take out naming of the program within the toolpath interface! i stick with mastercam because it lets me write the toolpath how i want it, they added a lot of great features, but this new interface is not faster, and it will be a while before they get all the bugs and bad setups worked out. just needed to vent, i hated to see a logical setup thrown out the window to start new.
  5. keeping the spindle surface and tool holders clean is important in any mill, don't let knicks or dents get on toolholder. haas don't have a spindle cooler, they use the flood coolant around spindle to cool it, it other words dry maching the spindle really warm up. haas are cheaper for a reason-cutting corners on the machine.
  6. i feel i need to stick up for moldmakers, i am not a "card carring" moldmaker, learned on the job, my true speciality is 3d work / cnc milling of cavity and core. moldmakers that use die grinders very much are not moldmakers, they are butchers. true ability is what is most important, not the title. in small shops the good machinist become moldmakers with time. moldmakers know what is important, and what is not, and how to fix problems, usually not with a die grinder. who eversaid the older moldmakers get mad that didn't start their own shop is right, that is why i started my own shop. cam generation
  7. I learned all mastercam versions on the job, yes i have read thru the book, and other literature. I understand how the new functions work (mostly). I can get almost anything done i could on other version. it is just more of a headache to use drop down menus to find less used functions. customization is a good addition, yet it should not be needed to make up for a bad layout. loss of the side menu bar was a bad misteak, i could get to any function on mastercam in a couple seconds, now i have to wait for a stupid drop down, move down, wait for another pop out, etc... It is not a matter of learning.
  8. I have been using x for 2 1/2 months now,(been programming on mastercam since 5.5) and i totally hate the new setup. they improved some functions yet the logic in the overlayout is totally missing. drop down menus are a extreme waste of time, I am not too thrilled at having to use icons either. escape now accepts operations instead of canceling. the use of functions inside of functions is a lot more limited that it used to be. overall productivity is lower with this new interface. why can't they just improve mastercam between version instead of starting new. there were a lot of bugs in the old version that could used some work first like trimming surfaces. It is lucky that the didn't mess up the toolpaths too much, although they are more cumbersome in acessing them. I have been a long time supporter of mastercam, they have lost a lot of my support on this release. especially after waiting so long for the upgrade to come out. frustrated programmer.
