  1. WHY PUT THE ORIGINAL Y DATUM OUTSIDE WHEN U FILP 180 ON x AXIS. DOES NOT MAKE SENSE. ANY ERROR WILL BE MAGNIGFIED. FLIP ON Y AXIS AND KEP YPUR Y DATUM THE SAME THEN YOIU KNOW ALL FEATURES ARE CORRECT. mAKING ANOTHER Y DATUM MAKES NOP SENSE AT ALL/
  2. These guys her keep the datums on the top left always no matter what op. total BS .. flip it on y x goes to op side. keeps the y plane in th esame spot.. whats your take.
  3. what tool path were u using to incorparate the boss. thanks.
  4. that nice but there is a 2 inch square boss sitting at the top of the intersection of the 2 tubes. it get dicey
  5. its a T-- 9 inches x 7 inches wide the 7 inches is the top of the T 3 inch diameters and is intersected by the 9 long 3 inch diameter. We bore out to make tube out of it we used to weld 2 3 inch tubes together now we just surface it and bore it. It starts off has a 3.5 inch 9 x 7 blk of aluminum. You may be right surface finish contour maynot machine the top of the contour of the tube. Scallop takes very long. I'll just keep using parralle. trying to cut machine time is all.
  6. picture machining a T its 3 inch diameter with a boss on top. I want to surface the top half flip it and surface the bottom half Surface finish contour does not cut the top of the diameter. say 3/4 of an inch on both runs of the T shape

  14. hey friends,,,, Please post how you calculate your feed rate for say a 5mm x .8 thread. Recommended CS for material is equal to SFPM correct????? CS x number flutes divided by cutter diameter equal rpm rpm x .002 chip load x 4 flutes to get feed rate .. If you have a chart/link to share that woukld be cool
  15. Hi Friends, Has anyone had any experience machining machinable hi temp ceramics. We are using QCT 1/2 inch roughing cutters SE toughy mill. Kinda looks like qa deburiing cutter Any one got any tips that may help?????? Different cutters. coolant etc... Thanks, Mike
  16. Merry Christmas Friends, These brackets are injection shot 17-4 SS brackets. The slot holds the wire on the teeth. The material is 22 Rockwell soft. They are doing with slitting saw 1 at a time. They want 20 done at a time on a fixture. brackets have an existing slot at .016. They want to run a .0185 ed mill thru because the slitting saw is leaving a big burr. I imagine with material this soft it might be pushng instead of cutting. if anyone has dealt with orthdotic brackets please PM me. They need 15K brackets a month. The CNC mill they are using has a air driven spindle to 65,000 rpm. I am not sure if they r running it max. Any suggetions on RPM etc.... I feel like a slitting saw running properly is way better than using endmills for production. maybe I am wrong. Thank you,
  17. Hi friends. Got the dimensions all goo but the finish sucks. Using carbide 2 flute 2 inch LOC. Was running at 2300 and 15 IPM. I am sure someone here can help me get a nice finish. I was stepping doebn .250 and doiong the finish pass after each roufh cut. Only removing about .070
  18. Hey friends, Vapor locking on chaining. I want to set up chain so it chains everything on the same plane . Say a square. click on one line and the whole square chains. I though I had it set up right but it wont work. thanks,
  19. Hi friends, Was looking for the dynamic contour toolpath. I wanted to check it out, Cant find it on X5. We almost have the inconel job done. I came in Monday and the owner/programmer took another approcah than my progam. We went thru at least 25 1 inch niagra 5 flute coated roughers on 19 parts. he ended up doing what I wanted to do and .800 DOC. .1 stepover. I would have prefered carbide 4 flute coated endmills. Oh well.
  20. what RPM ,IPM would u run a 1 inch 4 flute carbide and how deep of a cut????
  21. I agree 110 percent. Will get 1 inch 4 flute carbide coated. Aicn coating I believe the black coating. I have had really good luck with them on steel. I would have wire edm the job. We r runnibg a rougher 5 flute 1 inch at 225 rpm 2.o ipm. I think I can do much better than that for first op time of 40 minutes. I am thinking 6.5 ipm and 1100 rpm for a starters. .100 doc.
  22. If anyone can recommend a 1 inch insert cutter for inconel. It would be appreciated. I would like to talk them into buying one tomorrow. I need to machine a 3 3/4 diameter into a 2.75 x 2.250 sq. x 2.25 height. LOC is gonna be 2 inches. Its a bracket. T shaped. hogging out both sides 2 inches deep leaving a 2.75 x .390 in the middle.
