I have been using Seco turbo cutters. They do not hold up. If the insert goes so does the seat.
I am looking for 3/4 and 1/2 inch diameter insert cutters. If you have the insert type (Number) that would be appreciated. Used mainly on 17-4 SS and Titanium.
Thanks
hass control

I upgraded to X3 and I am using the same post the MC dealer set me up with. I send code to machine and get ALARM message. Says
data entry is not a number
number enrty is out of range
Program number is O0057
The program loads with line numbers etc.
any guess. I am using the same post.
Hey Friends.
I have a cylinder with 9 slots with a 3/32 ball nose. Cuts are down the length. I know how and where to put the code for rotating the 4th axis. Anyone got a good tip on using the rotary tab. 9 slots at 40 degree increments.
Also Slots running around the diamter. Any tips on these cuts would be cool also. The training at the MC dealer can't come soon enough.
Thanks
MC is importing all my program folders to x3 and I am sitting here having to press enter for an hour because it wants me to change my entity color to what I want. Is there an easier way.
I am still trying to figure it out.
I am going to run 1 the way I have it.
It should work. I will get with you on the file you sent me. I need to have about 3 hours of training on other things also. Email me whne is a good day. My boss okayed it.
The tool looks good. The backplot shows the tool not riding down the geometry. The tool is away from the part. the shading from the backplot does run down the middle of the groove.
I have a double angle cutter. 60 degrees included angle. Picture a woodruff cutter with a angle. Running it the CNC mill. Can anyone tell me how to create a custom cutter and save it and run a verify with it.
Thanks,
Thanks guys page 155 it is. I ran a stinking 1/8 drill mill /center drill. same crap but worse. It took the material down .010 from where it was supposed to be.
I ran my second setup peice out of pomalux industrial grade plastic you can buy atMcmastercarr. Everything is okay until I cut the fricking .020 deep slots with a new 1/8 45 degree carbide endmill 2 flute. The slots look like there is no V at the bottom. I have a TM-1 and max RPM is 4000.
Is this RPM the problem. I run at 10 IPM and went down tto 5 on cleanup. Or do I need to grind a 1/8 spade much like a engraving tool wioth a sharp point at 45 degrees.
Hey Friends,
We need an agressive knurll on .250 diamter 17-4
stainless. Usually the knurll is about 1 to 2 inches long. If the knrull is not agressive the doctors hand slips while using the tool with rubber gloves on. Do they sell an agrressive knurll for a standard lathe that holds 1 inch tool bits. I understand you have to have a knurll tool that has 3 contact points because of flexing. Or should we just farm out before machining the part.
Thanks
Hey friends,
I have .5 diameter 10.4 inch long 17-4 SS rod.
I need to drill a .315 hole thru it.
I could peck 1/2 way on one side then peck the other half, then run a reamer thru to clean it up. Or i could drill a 1/8 hole thru it and send to wire edm. I wish I could get 17-4 ss tube.
You have to order a 1000 lbs just to get some.
thanks
Top Dog equal.
How much stress and blame and horse crap you want to put up with. when the guys on 2nd shift put the wrong tool in or they run a broken tool. The top Dog always gets the blame. Been there done that. I'll stay in Engineering, Prototyping
etc... Trust me an extra 20k a year ain't worth the heartache. Some guys need a shot in the morning just to keep the nerves calm.
