  1. I have found that somewhere your allocation of Ram to either the tool path or geometry is higher than 66.6% of you Ram that is avail to be used... I could be wrong, but someone smarter will come along and let you know other wise..
  2. well, ive played with the allocations, but with no help. Although it seems that when I turn down the quality from the highest setting down one notch it will run thru with no problems? Any other ideas?
  3. I forgot to add its MC 9.1 SP2
  4. Hey all, does anyone know how I can get my true solids to work with out crashing? I can run it without true solids verification turned off and all goes well. But once I try to verify it with true solids on, it hangs up at 2% worth of processing. Stats on my comp: runing windows 2000 with service pack 4 2 gigs of ram processor not sure... Im sure its a simple alocation of ram to something its just I can not remeber where it is for the solid models. if you can keep it as lamen as possible for me to understand please... Thanks, Absolute Technologies Inc. Ed Buhain
  5. Ive been using a Dell Insperion 2400 if I remember rite. Been using it for 4 years now with no problems. Also, its working off Windows Proffesional. With a gig of ram. Handles most complicated solid models just fine. Ed
  6. Solid models are much better in the long run for RD work. Make the first one. Test it. Lets say the fillets are all wrong. Go into the solid manager and change it to new size and re-gen. All good to go. When We pick up complex work for outside sorces for lots of 3D work. We see if the customer has a solid or a catia file that we can get from them to do the machiing. Saves many hours, as long as there file transfers friendly. IE Not like Catia likes to play nice with other programs. But will except many of there files to translate. Ed
  7. As Heff stated, you will be able to create surfaces much easier from a solid. Also, MC kinda goes hay wire when you try to create multitude fillets from variing surfaces. Another thing to take into mind is. A solid is much easier to manipulate later with the solids manager as well.
  8. Climb cutting is the best way to cut in most instances. The only time that I have used conventional cutting is with material that has scale on the outside. This is also only with the thinking that you are using a HSS end mill as well.
  9. DavidB, The sandvic cutters work great. Although the price will make you second guess using them. I have found that Mitsubishi end mills {Diamond star} are the better deal for tool life. I use them on stainless and also on some 52Rc material. Only taking an ap of .007 side cut x .5 deep, and running it at 97 ipm. I cant rember off the top of my head on the speed. But it went back to back with the sandvic and it out performed by 2 1/2 folds... High helis when ever possible, for high speed machining. Ed
  10. other than roll tapping and using a higher helix tap. you can go and us a rigid tapping cycle with a peck in it, it will take longer to do the hole. But with the satifaction of not blowing a tap up. We here do that in our stainless on most of our holes. Although, another note is. That we use all 100% cutting oil in our machines. Not water soluable. just some more $.02 Ed
  11. You may want to check and see what your highlighted color is. May be the same as the back ground? Just a thought. Screen/config/screen/system colors/auto highlight???? Ed
  12. Ok, Ron, thanks for the info and the site of the company. I will give it a check out as soon as I can and go from there. The comute would kill me, but I am looking to move out towards Corona on the south end of Lake Elsinor or so. So, anything is still up in the air. Well, also. Since I will be winning the $81 mill lottery tonight. It will be nice working an 8 hr day for a change. LOL Ps. Thanks James for the good review. Good to see your still around. Stop by the shop if your in the area. Ed
  13. I've taken both begginer and advance MC there in costa mesa. All came out good and the boss even paid for my time there! The teachers are good the advance class is much more fun. But the basic is very needed to get thru the advance part of the solids. Mr. Buie [sic] is a great teacher and will help out when needed. But will not do the answer for you. Just lead you in the correct way. just my two cents. Ed Absolute Techonologies, Inc.
  14. Crazy mill guy, I'm always keeping an eye out there in the market. I am currently in Orange county and working in yorba linda. Been working as a set up , programmer, operater, inspector and heven forbid am a mill supervisor... (saying that quietly). How about some more info on what your type of work is and what shift are you looking for as well? By the way ive been in the trade for the last 20yrs. Have some master cam experience not alot. Been to school for it at least. Ed
  15. What is the type of machine that your trying to get a program posted to? I myself use MPFAN for my Mori's. You can always make a copy of the post your looking for and go in and edit it to make it work for yourself. But one hint, only change one thing at a time and see if it works for you. That way you will know exactly what corrected your problem.
