  1. Thanks my apprentice pointed it out to me as well. I'd claim a senior moment, but I won't be 40 until next April
  2. I searched the forum and mcx help index but I can't find anything like version 9 had with ram saver. I was just wondering if version 10 has something similar.
  3. Thanks, John, I couldn't remember the email address. It's only 2 sets of surfaces that MR2 won't generate correctly, but they both do fine in MCX SP1.
  4. I think MR2 has a bug in its 5 axis swarf program. It's doing some pretty funky moves in MR2, but if I use the exact same geometry in X sp2 it works just fine. I guess I'll go back to X SP2 for my 5 axis stuff for now.
  5. Thanks John. I installed your copy. Scott
  6. I've been in the chook menu and it is NOT in there. I also searched my "help" index and nothing for sillouette comes up. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
  7. I'm using MR2 and was told by my resellers about "this wonderful new chook" that will create a sillouette boundary curve around any surfaces I choose. I cannot find it anywhere. They said it was supposed to be included in MR2. Does anyone know where it is?
  8. You might try the "regenerate display list" icon.
  9. You might try the "regenerate display list" icon.
  10. I'm using mcx sp1 and recently started using the filter button because the programs were overloading our machines with points in the corners. I've set the filter parameters to .001 total and only allow it to create arcs in X and Y. Now my programs are violating my parts but with inconsistency. Some parts are good, and some parts are bad using the same surface programs set to the same filter ratios. All these parts verify good in mastercam. The bad parts have largely been on our Sharnoa machines (Tiger 7 control) and the good ones on a Fanuc controlled Johnford. I don't know if that's a coincidence or not as I have only recently begun having this problem. My supervisor suggested turning off the "create arcs in X and Y" button, thinking the problem is in the post. Anyone have a similar problem? Thanks!
  11. The filter seems to work fine in 3d surface programs, but watch it if you use the filter tab in the simple contour program. I had it violate a couple of my parts recently and mastercam's quick verify did NOT show it doing so.
  12. there are a couple of bugs that need fixed (and are being addressed) in MR1: create-curve-slice leaves gaps in my complex parts, create-curve-one edge and all edges does not create arcs on holes. I brought these to the attention of mastercam and they said the fixes will be on the new release: MR2. Also when switching back and forth between 2 axis and 3 axis posts for the same machine you have to open up the machine group files folder before it will switch from one post to the other.
  13. Thanks for your input. I'll try out those methods.
  14. I've got a question about surface rough pocket. Of the 8 cutting methods (zig, zag, etc.) do any guarantee to never leave little islands of stock on my part? The guys on the floor say my mastercam programs regularly do. To me this is a bug in mastercam. My other cam software never, ever leaves islands of stock no matter what stepover or other parameters I give it.
  15. WorkNC has some awesome features I wish Mastercam could duplicate...like editting a program simply by windowing over the area of the toolpath you want to get rid of and a 3d retract that will skim within .250 of the part and never violate the surfaces (saves a lot of machine time when you're doing a cavity over 20" deep). However, the longer I work with mastercam the happier I am that the cad/cam is integrated unlike WorkNC. I have much more flexibility and capability with mastercam.
  16. Kenny at mastercam said there is a bug with the create-curve-slice and he has it noted.
  17. I like some of the new things in MR1 but for the things I have to do right now at my job I finally went back to MCX because of a couple of bugs. (I am eagerly awaiting the patch so I can go back to MR1.) Maybe someone can tell me how to get around them. 3) I have to put grid lines on large headliner molds and with create-curve-slice MR1 was leaving huge gaps along the surfaces...MCX did it better. 2) Many of the files that I am given have holes for mounting bolts that I have to cover in order to machine and create-surface-fill holes worked much better in MCX than in MR1.
