Thanks for all your advice guys. You are right, it would be faster to run 2-d toolpath on this peice. The reason I use 3-d all the time is because most of my stuff will not produce in 2-d. I guess I get stuck in a rut. The other reason I like to run the surface paths is because it is les time sitting here at the pc. I actually run the company here and set the tools on the machine, parts on the machine, etc etc. So the less time i'm actually playing with the mouse the better. I just thought compared to other jobs i've run it takes way longer.
On another topic, has anyone ran in to problems machining from solids only? I get a problem very often where mastercam totally ignores some of the surfaces of the solid, but, when I create surfaces from the same solid, and machine the surfaces ....... Problem goes away. ????? Bug??
Talk soon, Lee.
Hi Jay, I put the file called cadcam.zip in the mc9 files folder.
Thanks for all your help.
Please try regen on any of the operations and let me know how you make out.
Thanks, Lee.
The part is approximately 5 feet by three feet and all I am trying to do is pocket and finish approximately 90 holes that are about 2 1/2" diameter with a draft angle on the sides. The part is .75 thick and the holes go through.
Thanks, Lee.

I am working on a part that seems to be taking way too long to get toolpath. I am running a 2600+ AMD Athlon, Asus A7V8X Motherboard, and a 32Meg Nvidia card. Mastercam seems to everything really well up until the staus bar says " Creating tool boundaries at **** certain depths, depending on the satrt depth. Any ideas???
Mastercam was working fine yesterday and today it won't fire up. I get an error as follows.
Afx Rich Edit init failed!
I checked my clock settings and still no change.
Tried re-booting, still no change.
Tried turning off all together and then back on, still no change.
Also, the system sees my hasp,
Thanks in anticipation.

HELP!!!!!
The directory it's trying to install to is mcam8, I have my program installed in mcam81 and so I re-direct the patch to this directory. Is this ok? Or do I have to re-install everything to mcam8. The program was not running and so i'm confused, please help.
The reason I was installing this in the first place is I'm just trying to stay current.
Advice, Please, Thanks, lee.
Hello Everyone, I just tried to install the latest patch, v8addons_full.exe. When I said yes to extract and overwrite I got an error message: Cannot create output file C:mcam81chookslayout.cnt
Does anyone get the same message?
Does anyone have an answer?
Thanks, Lee

I might be losing my mind here but did this function disappear? I searched high and low for this option and it can't be found, I think. I have a closed pocket and want to machine it with tapered walls, any ideas? Thanks in advance, Lee.

I agree that this is a windows problem. However I'm not sure how to change the settings in win2000, can anyone help here. I am running an AMD Athlon 650 with 512mb ram.
Thanks in advance, Lee.
