  1. I will definitely take that approach the next time I try an install. Thanks
  2. As for my problem, I reinstalled MX3,and followed the migration instructions the best I could, but I still found MX3 crashing when I tried to get into the machine definition. I also found it still did something to my X2 Machine Definition during the migration process that causes X2 not to recognize it as being valid. I realize either Im doing something wrong during the install or there is something about X3 my computer does not like. Even after uninstalling MX3 and getting X2 back up and running. I still cant get into the machine def in X2 with out it crashing. This might be stupid but.....In my computer the Wire Machine Definition file extenion shows up as a Windows media file because they share the WMD. extension. Could this be fouling things up?? Since nobody else is having the same problem I am, Im wondering if it has something to do with Wire? Just a thought, Mike
  3. John, I have given up on intalling x3 right now and trying to get x2 up and running. Some how my machine definitions became corrupt. I have replaced my old defintions with ones I have saved, and X2 now starts up with the correct machine definition, but it still crashes when I try to get into the machine definition manager. It gives me an mCCore.dll exception error. This is what I get for trying t be the first one in the shop with x3....no guts no glory! Thanks for the help, Mike
  4. Ok, Im using windows xp, my x2 version is x2 sp1. Im using this for Wire. This is the rundown of what happened. I installed x3. I started the program. It came up with the box about definition being from a old version and if I wanted to update it. I said yes and filled out what it asked. X3 started up and it worked ok until I tried to get into the machine definition. It crashed. I tried again and it opened ok, then it crashed again when I tried to get into machine definition. It then started to give me an error during start up. All the error messages have this in common: MCCore.dll caused an Unknown exception type (0xc0000409) in module MCCore.dll at 001b:103499a1 I uninstalled x3, then reinstalled and had the same problem. I tried to do some work using X2, and when it was starting up it came up with the pop up that said the machine definition was from a old version. Well that lost me there. So I uninstalled X3 again to see if that would clear things up. This is where I am now.....this is with X2 I can open an existing file and work with it and it works ok, but If I try to get into the machine Definition it crashes. If I try to start a new X2 program, it opens up with the default wire definition. If I tell it to open up the one I had been using it tells me it is not valid. So I opened a old definition that I know works and it opens up ok, but if I try to get in to the machine definition it still crashes. Sorry for the long post. Mike
  5. Well I uninstalled X3, then reinstalled and I still get the same message. Seems to be a problem with the "Mastercam event logger" that launches when you start mastercam. Is this something totally new with x3 or has it been there but I have not seen it. Anyway I guess I am not going any where fast with x3 because I can not even to get it to load ;o(
  6. Hi all, After getting 2 crashes while I was trying to set up my configuration, mastercam X3 now crashes during start up and gives me the message "LOGS MASTERCAM EVENTS ERROR" and then hangs up till I kill it in task manager. Any one have this problem. Im thinking about reinstalling and seeing if that fixes anything. Thanks, Wire mike
  7. Lou, Thanks for the reply. Even after I put the operations in different groups, it still wont let me post both operations together. I think Mastercam just wont allow posting of multiple operations if they don't have the same nc file name. Seems this is probably a unique requirement of my Machines control. I think this actually has more to do how my post is set up rather then Mastercam. Thanks for the help, Mike
  8. Good Morning all. I have a Charmilles wire here, and my post is set up so that it uses the NC file name to call out the tec file. (the file that tells the machine how many passses, what the offsets are etc.)For example if the NC file name is PUNCH1, It will post (TEC,PUNCH1) in my program to call out that tec file. The problem I am having is that sometimes when I am posting multiple operations, I want to use different tec files. This means I have to change the NC file name in the operation I want to change, but when I post, Mastercam wont post all the operations because the NC file names are different. So I was wondering how the rest of you get around this. Do I need to change my post so it gets the tec files information from somewhere other then the NC files name? Or is there another solution. I have been editing the different tecs after I post it, but that tends to lead to mistakes in the long run. Thanks, Mike Mastercam X2 Charmiles Robofil 240
  9. Troy, Were running X2MR1 and it comes into question with most surfacing operations....(rough and finish parallel ect..) Thanks, Mike
  10. Hello everyone, I am posting this question for a coworker who does not internet access. When surfacing and using the Direction button (entry/exit) mastercam uses the plunge rate for the enrty/exit moves and generally this is to fast. You can change the plunge rate to slow it down to the speed desired, but then it slows the whole operation down. Is there anyway to change the entry/exit feed with out changing the plunge feed as well? Thanks, Mike and coworker Lou
  11. Thanks for the help guys! When I turned hardware acceleration off in the configuration is took care of the problem. I have a ATI Radeaon 9550/X1050. Its not the first time this card had given me a problem since I switched to this new computer. Thanks again for your help. Mike
  12. Good morning, I have recently installed X2MR1 on a new computer and I have been having this problem. When I try to create a line on an angle, and have the autocursor turned on, I get white lines showing up at every position where the autocursor is showing a possible endpoint(plus some positions that the autocursor should not even be picking). These lines clutter the screen and don't go away as you move the cursor to a new position. Even after I choose where I want to be the end points, and hit the "ok" button, these unwanted lines stay on the screen until I click "clear screen" Anyone know how to stop this from happening? Thanks, Mike
  13. Thanks, I never would have figured that one out! Mike
  14. Thanks for the help Randy. What I noticed now is that instead of showing the "ok" "apply" and "help" button's on the tool bars it is showing a button that drop's down a menu with these options. Must be a setting I have to change somewhere. Thanks! Mike
  15. Happy Friday everyone, I Installed X2 on a new computer this week and for some reason the "OK" button that shows up to approve geometry you have created is not coming up and I have to hit "enter" instead. I must have something not set up right. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Mike
  16. I finally found the correct post. I did not have it on my X2 Disk, but I found it in my version 9 files. Thanks for the help Mike
  17. Dacey, Thats what we do now. Anilam still needs to change it over to its conversational language. Im not sure if its just a different post altogether,or a independent program to change it over. I suppose I should stop being lazy and give Anilam a call! Thanks for your help, Mike
  18. Hi all, Our Anlilam 3000 requires us to take the nc file we post from mastercam and translate it to anliam conversational language. The problem is this has to be done on the anilam control at the machine and is a pain in the butt. Does anyone know of a program that will translate the nc code to the conversational code on a pc? Thanks, Mike
  19. Dont pick on us wire guys because are hand are in spring water all day and not covered in hot, goo covered chips.
  20. You have probably tried this, but try bringing your air pressure as low as possible.
  21. Edmbosto, I had the same problem last week. I could not get the tab option window to drop down. I was told to use the arrow keys, and that worked.I only had this happen after I installed service pack 1. I also am running windows 2000. Mike
  22. Well I guess my Boss should have listened when I asked to move out of the stone age. Yes Im running Windows 2000. Now I will insist they bring me up to the modern world. Thanks! Mike
  23. Allan, Thats works! Thanks a bunch! Do you know the cause for this happening? I appreciate everyones help. Mike
  24. Roger, the controls all become active, but for some reason the tab drop down menu wont drop down. When I click on the menu to drop down, a black line appears under the tab cut drop down window.(I dont know if this tells you anything..not normal though) My only guess is something became corrupted when I installed MR1 since nobody else is having this problem. Thanks, Mike
  25. Thanks for the help Dell. I think my Mastercam has a bug because no matter what I do I cant get that menu to drop down. The menu is not grayed out, it appears active but just wont drop down. I opened a file from a previous version and the correct option was in the drop down, (different then the default option)but it will no let me change it to a different setting.Hmm I don't know what to do now. The disk my reseller sent me is has March 07 on the label, maybe I there is a newer version. Thanks for your help Mike
